The Axis REWARDS card earns 10X EDGE Reward Points on apparel and departmental stores — 3.2% at the published ₹0.20 a point — on a base rate of 0.32%.

That is a twenty-year-old card structure: a narrow accelerated band doing all the work, a weak base, and a tight cap. The cap is the number to plan around.

Reward Structure: How You Earn

This card's own terms state the point value outright — 'Cardholder shall earn 2 EDGE REWARD points (1 EDGE rewards = INR 0.20)' — which is one of only two places in Axis's documentation where ₹0.20 appears as a genuine redemption rate rather than a clawback figure.

20 EDGE Reward Points per ₹125 on apparel and departmental stores — 3.2%. 2 per ₹125 on everything else — 0.32%.

Axis changed this card on 28 August 2026. Gift-card purchases and toll, bridge and road fees stopped earning rewards and stopped counting toward milestones and the annual fee waiver.

The caps that actually bind

Headline rates mean little until you know where they stop. These are the limits on this card:

CapLimit
Apparel1,008 points per calendar month

The 10X band is capped at 1,008 EDGE Reward Points a statement cycle — an oddly precise figure Axis states directly. At 20 points per ₹125 that fills at about ₹6,300 of apparel spend a month, worth ₹202. Past it you drop to 0.32%.

The ₹199 redemption and transfer fee is waived on this card, which on a low-value points card matters more than it would elsewhere — ₹199 is 995 points at ₹0.20.

Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn

  • Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: fuel; rent (MCC 6513); wallet loads (MCC 6540); government institution transactions (MCC 9222, 9311, 9399, 9402); cash withdrawals; EMI conversions; gift card purchases and toll, bridge and road fees (both excluded w.e.f. 28 August 2026); and fees, charges, GST and reversals. Insurance, utilities, telecom, education and jewellery are excluded on some cards only — the per-card notes say which.
  • Point expiry: EDGE Reward Points and EDGE Miles expire 36 months from the date of accrual unless the card's own terms say otherwise. Points are forfeited if the card is closed, and a NEGATIVE point balance at closure is converted to a statement debit the cardholder must pay.
  • Apparel cap: 1,008 EDGE Reward Points a statement cycle on the 10X apparel and departmental store band — an oddly precise figure that Axis states directly. Worth ₹202 at ₹0.20 a point, binding at about ₹6,300 of qualifying spend a month.

Is the Axis Bank REWARDS Credit Card Worth It?

The monthly milestone is the best part and it is repeatable. 1,500 EDGE Reward Points on ₹30,000 of net spend in a statement cycle is ₹300 a month — ₹3,600 a year if you hit it every month, against a ₹1,000 fee. That alone justifies the card for a consistent spender.

The 10X band fills fast. ₹6,300 of apparel a month is not a lot, and beyond it the card earns 0.32%, which is poor.

Two domestic lounge visits a quarter round it out.

Best held by someone who reliably spends ₹30,000 a month and buys clothes regularly. Miss the milestone and the economics fall apart quickly.
