The Scapia Axis card is lifetime free and advertises 10% rewards on all eligible spends with no maximum cap.

Ten per cent is not what it pays. Five Scapia Coins make ₹1, so 10 Coins per ₹100 is ₹2 — a 2% return. Scapia's own terms concede the point, describing the RuPay variant as '2% value back (equivalent to 10% rewards)'.

Reward Structure: How You Earn

Scapia Coins are worth ₹0.20 — Scapia publishes this directly: '5 Scapia Coins = INR 1, applicable for redemption against flights, hotel/stay bookings, bus'.

10% rewards as Scapia Coins on the Mastercard variant — 2.0% of value — with no maximum cap. 5% on the RuPay variant — 1.0% — on UPI, online and offline spends of ₹500 or more.

SpendEffective rate
UPI, online and offline spends of ₹500 or more (RuPay variant)**1.0%**
Everything else2.0%
Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government, gaming**0%**

The two network variants differ materially. Mastercard earns double the rewards but nothing on UPI; RuPay earns half but does work on UPI, which is where a large share of Indian spending now happens. Which is better depends entirely on how you pay.

Coins redeem only for travel inside the Scapia app — flights, hotels and bus bookings. There is no cash-out, so the 2% is worth 2% only to someone who books travel there.

Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn

  • Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: fuel; rent (MCC 6513); wallet loads (MCC 6540); government institution transactions (MCC 9222, 9311, 9399, 9402); cash withdrawals; EMI conversions; gift card purchases and toll, bridge and road fees (both excluded w.e.f. 28 August 2026); and fees, charges, GST and reversals. Insurance, utilities, telecom, education and jewellery are excluded on some cards only — the per-card notes say which.
  • Point expiry: EDGE Reward Points and EDGE Miles expire 36 months from the date of accrual unless the card's own terms say otherwise. Points are forfeited if the card is closed, and a NEGATIVE point balance at closure is converted to a statement debit the cardholder must pay.
  • Redemption fee: ₹199 per redemption.

Is the Scapia Axis Bank Credit Card Worth It?

A lifetime-free card returning an uncapped 2% on travel credit is a genuinely good deal, provided you use the app. There is no fee to recover.

But read the 10% correctly. Anyone comparing this against a 2% cashback card and concluding Scapia pays five times more has misread it — the two are level, and the cashback is spendable anywhere while the Coins are not.

The uncapped earning on the Mastercard variant is the standout feature. Most cards paying 2% cap it; this one does not.

The RuPay variant's UPI earning is the other reason to look. Very few credit cards earn anything on UPI QR payments at all.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a Scapia Coin worth? ₹0.20 — five Coins make ₹1. Scapia publishes this directly, which is why the 10% headline is 2% of actual value.

Is Scapia really 10% cashback? No. It is 10% rewards in Scapia Coins, which is 2% of value. Scapia's own terms describe it as '2% value back (equivalent to 10% rewards)'.

Is the earning capped? Not on the Mastercard variant — Scapia states there is no maximum cap. That is unusual and is the card's strongest feature.

Mastercard or RuPay? Mastercard earns 10% rewards (2% value) but nothing on UPI. RuPay earns 5% (1% value) and does work on UPI, on spends of ₹500 or more. Pick by how you actually pay.

What can I redeem Coins for? Flights, hotel and stay bookings and bus tickets inside the Scapia app. There is no cash-out or statement credit.

What does the card cost? Nothing. It is lifetime free — Nil joining and Nil annual fee.
