Reward Structure: How You Earn
PIXEL Go earns CashPoints worth ₹1 — a true 1% base, which is better than most entry cards manage.
5% on SmartBuy. 1% on UPI spends on the RuPay variant. 1% on everything else.
This card was unaffected by HDFC's 15 May 2026 rate change, which moved the Reward Point cards from ₹150 to ₹200 earning blocks. The cashback and co-brand cards were left alone.
| Spend | Effective rate |
|---|---|
| SmartBuy | **5.0%** |
| UPI spends (RuPay variant) | **1.0%** |
| Everything else | 1.0% |
| Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government, gaming | **0%** |
A flat 1% with no category thinking required is the appeal. Unlike MoneyBack+ or Freedom, you do not need your spending to land on a partner list for the card to work.
Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn
- Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: fuel; EasyEMI and e-wallet loading; rent, property management, maintenance and packers-and-movers; government transactions; education paid through third-party apps such as CRED, Cheq or MobiKwik (paying a college or school directly still earns); and online skill-based gaming. Points are also REVERSED if a retail transaction is later converted to SmartEMI.
- Point expiry: Reward Points are valid for 24 months from accrual and lapse thereafter — HDFC states 'Unredeemed Reward Points will expire/lapse after 2 years of accumulation'.
- Redemption fee: ₹99 per redemption.

Is the HDFC Bank PIXEL Go Credit Card Worth It?
At ₹250 reversed at ₹50,000, this is close to free and earns a real 1%. For a light spender that is a better outcome than most entry cards deliver.
The 1% UPI rate on the RuPay variant is the sleeper benefit. If a meaningful share of your spending goes through UPI, this card earns on it where almost nothing else does.
Against PIXEL Play at twice the fee, Go gives up the two configurable 5% packs and the 3% merchant. If you would use those, Play is worth the extra ₹250. If you would not, Go is the better deal.
There is no meaningful downside at this fee beyond the opportunity cost of holding something better.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
