The HDFC Bank World MasterCard Credit Card earns 2 Reward Points per ₹200 — about 0.2% at the estimated ₹0.20 point value.

It is a live product — it appears on HDFC's 15 May 2026 rate-change mailer, which would not list a withdrawn card — but its published detail is unusually thin, and the fee is not among the things HDFC states.

Reward Structure: How You Earn

The card earns 2 Reward Points per ₹200 — 0.2% at the ₹0.20 redemption rate.

HDFC moved this card from ₹150 to ₹200 earning blocks on 15 May 2026 — a 25% cut to accrual. Any page quoting a ₹150 basis predates the change.

HDFC publishes no joining or renewal fee for this card on any page reviewed, and the figures here show ₹0 as a placeholder rather than a confirmed zero. This is not a lifetime-free card: it carries a ₹75,000 renewal-fee waiver threshold, and a waiver only makes sense if a fee exists. Ask HDFC what the fee is before applying — it is the single most important number about the card and it cannot be looked up.

The card has a spend-threshold uplift rather than a category bonus. Crossing ₹75,000 of spend in a statement cycle raises every subsequent rupee that cycle from 2 to 3 Reward Points per ₹200 — a 50% increase applied to everything, not to a category.

No automated comparison tool can model this: it depends on your running cycle total, not on where you shop, so expect calculators to understate the card for a heavy spender.

No Reward Points are earned on transactions below ₹150 at all. On a card earning 2 points per ₹200, a string of small purchases earns nothing.

Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn

  • Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: fuel; EasyEMI and e-wallet loading; rent, property management, maintenance and packers-and-movers; government transactions; education paid through third-party apps such as CRED, Cheq or MobiKwik (paying a college or school directly still earns); and online skill-based gaming. Points are also REVERSED if a retail transaction is later converted to SmartEMI.
  • Point expiry: Reward Points are valid for 24 months from accrual and lapse thereafter — HDFC states 'Unredeemed Reward Points will expire/lapse after 2 years of accumulation'.
  • Redemption fee: ₹99 per redemption.

Is the HDFC Bank World MasterCard Credit Card Worth It?

The unpublished fee makes this card impossible to recommend or rule out. A 0.2% return is poor at any price, but whether the card is worth holding depends entirely on a number HDFC does not state.

If you already hold it, the ₹75,000 renewal waiver is the thing to track — clearing it removes whatever the fee turns out to be.

If you are considering applying, ask for the fee in writing first. Then compare against PIXEL Go at ₹250 for a flat 1% in CashPoints worth ₹1 each — five times the return with no valuation guesswork.

The legacy point valuation is an estimate. HDFC publishes no redemption table for this card. ₹0.20 is anchored on the two legacy cards that do publish one — Solitaire at ₹0.20 and Titanium Edge at ₹0.10 — so ₹0.10 is a live possibility here too, in which case the rate above is double what it should be.

HDFC's Fair Usage Policy caps the legacy range at 15,000 Reward Points earned per statement cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the HDFC Bank World MasterCard Credit Card earn rate? 2 Reward Points per ₹200 — about 0.2% at the estimated ₹0.20 point value. It earned per ₹150 before 15 May 2026.

What is the joining fee? HDFC does not publish one on any page reviewed. The ₹0 recorded here is a placeholder, not a confirmed zero — and the ₹75,000 renewal-fee waiver implies a fee exists. Ask the bank.

Is this card still available? Yes. It appears on HDFC's 15 May 2026 rate-change mailer, which would not list a discontinued product.

How does the ₹75,000 threshold work? Once your spending in a statement cycle passes ₹75,000, every further rupee that cycle earns 3 Reward Points per ₹200 instead of 2 — a 50% uplift on everything, resetting each cycle.

What does it not earn on? Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government payments, third-party education apps and online gaming earn nothing, and points are reversed if a purchase is converted to SmartEMI.
