From 15 January 2026 ICICI stopped paying rewards on fuel and e-wallet loads across its range, and added new fees the same day: 1% on wallet loads of ₹5,000 or more, 2% on skill-based gaming, 1% on transportation above ₹50,000, and ₹3,500 one-time for every new add-on card.
| Spend | Effective rate |
|---|---|
| Fuel at HPCL outlets (capped at 100 points a month) | **2.5%** |
| Everything else | 0.5% |
| Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government, gaming | **0%** |
The caps that actually bind
Headline rates mean little until you know where they stop. These are the limits on this card:
| Cap | Limit |
|---|---|
| Fuel | 100 points per calendar month |
| Utility | 40,000 points per calendar month |
| Insurance | 40,000 points per calendar month |
| Grocery | 20,000 points per calendar month |
| Transport | 10,000 points per calendar month |
Both accelerated bands are capped monthly, and the caps bind at spend levels most drivers pass easily. The figures in the verdict below are the realistic maxima, not the headline rates.

Is the ICICI Bank HPCL Coral Credit Card Worth It?
The ₹100 monthly fuel cap is the whole story. At 2.5% it fills at ₹4,000 of fuel — one tank for many drivers — giving a maximum fuel benefit of ₹1,200 a year against a ₹199 fee.
That is still a positive return, and at ₹199 the card is hard to lose money on. But anyone reading '2.5% on fuel' and expecting it to scale will be disappointed at the second fill of the month.
Fuel earning survives here where ICICI removed it across most of the range on 15 January 2026.
Against HPCL Super Saver at ₹500, this card has a lower fee and a simpler structure; Super Saver has the 5% essentials band, itself capped at ₹100 a month. Neither is generous.
Milestone and welcome benefits are released only after the fee has actually been paid — a waived fee forfeits them. Rent, government and education spends count toward neither the fee waiver nor the milestones.
