IDFC FIRST Millennia Credit Card Review 2026: 10X Rewards, Railway Lounge Access, Lifetime Free, Fee
Full review of the IDFC FIRST Millennia Credit Card in 2026 — the revised 10X reward structure effective 18 June 2026, railway lounge access, movie discounts, welcome benefits worth ₹1,500, fees, exclusions and FAQs.
The FIRST Millennia Credit Card is IDFC FIRST Bank's entry-level, genuinely lifetime-free rewards card. It was rebuilt in June 2026 around a simpler idea: accelerated rewards on dining, travel and international spends from the very first rupee, with no monthly spend gate. If you eat out, order in, book travel occasionally and want a no-fee card that never sends you a renewal bill, this is the shape of card you are looking at.

Eligibility Criteria
- Age: 21 to 65 years
- Residency: Resident Indian
- Income: Annual income of ₹3,00,000 or more, for salaried and self-employed applicants
- Final approval, credit limit and the applicable interest rate are set by the bank's internal policy and your credit history. If you already hold an unsecured IDFC FIRST Bank credit card, the new card shares the same credit limit rather than adding to it.
Welcome Benefit
The card advertises joining benefits worth up to ₹1,500, made up of two separate components.
₹500 gift voucher. Spend ₹5,000 or more within 30 days of card generation and you can pick a voucher worth ₹500 from partner brands such as Amazon, BigBasket, Uber and Lifestyle. The 30-day clock starts from the SMS or email confirming your card has been issued. After you cross the spend threshold, a communication with a link to the rewards section of the mobile banking app arrives within four to five working days, and the voucher stays redeemable for 90 days from that message. Only primary card spends count — UPI transactions, add-on card spends, wallet loads, EMI-converted transactions and ATM withdrawals are all excluded, as are any reversed, cancelled or disputed transactions. One voucher per card billing account, primary cardholder only, and replacement or re-issued cards are excluded.
5% cashback up to ₹1,000 on your first EMI. Convert a transaction to EMI within the first 30 days of card generation and you get 5% back, capped at ₹1,000. Gold and jewellery purchases are not eligible for EMI conversion. Cashback lands within 90 days of the offer end date. Worth being clear-eyed here: to extract the full ₹1,000 you need roughly ₹20,000 converted to EMI, and you pay EMI interest on that. The ₹500 voucher is the part of the welcome package that is genuinely free money.
Reward Structure: How You Earn
The base unit is straightforward. 1X equals 1 Reward Point per ₹200 spent, and 1 Reward Point is worth ₹0.25. Everything else is a multiple of that.
| Tier | Where it applies | Points per ₹200 | Value back |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10X | Dining and food delivery, travel, international purchases, all birthday spends | 10 points | 1.25% |
| 3X | All other eligible spend categories | 3 points | 0.375% |
| 1X | Utility bill payments, insurance premiums, railway spends, FASTag recharges | 1 point | 0.125% |
| Nil | Fuel, EMI transactions, cash withdrawals, fees and charges | 0 | 0% |
What changed on 18 June 2026. Previously, 10X was unlocked only on incremental spends above ₹20,000 in a billing cycle, and everything below that earned 3X. That gate is gone. You now earn 10X from the first eligible transaction in the qualifying categories, with no minimum spend.
How the categories are defined. IDFC FIRST identifies dining and travel by merchant category code, which matters more than the merchant's brand name:
| Category | MCCs |
|---|---|
| Dining, including food delivery | 5812, 5813, 5814 |
| Travel | 3000–3350, 3501–3853, 7011, 4511, 4722, 4723 |
| International | Any transaction at an international merchant |
The practical read: Swiggy, Zomato and restaurant bills earn 10X. Airlines, hotels, travel agents and car rental earn 10X. App cabs such as Ola and Uber sit outside the travel MCC range and earn 3X. Online shopping, groceries, quick commerce, movies, pharmacy and healthcare all earn 3X.
Bonus points on in-app travel bookings. Book flights or hotels through the FIRST Rewards Gallery section of the IDFC FIRST Bank Mobile App and you earn Bonus Reward Points on top of the base 10X earn — 20% bonus on hotels and 10% bonus on flights, in the bank's convention of points per ₹100 of spend. Stacking the two:
| Booking channel | Base earn | Bonus earn | Total value back |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hotels via FIRST Rewards Gallery | 1.25% | 5.00% | **6.25%** |
| Flights via FIRST Rewards Gallery | 1.25% | 2.50% | **3.75%** |
| Hotels or flights booked anywhere else | 1.25% | — | 1.25% |
Bonus points are capped at 8,000 per calendar month per card account, shared across flights and hotels — that is ₹2,000 of value a month. The base 10X earn keeps accruing after the bonus pool is exhausted. Bonus points apply only to full-swipe transactions: anything converted to EMI is out, and so is any booking paid partly with Reward Points. They are credited by the 5th of the month following travel or hotel check-in, not at booking.
Illustrative example. The uploaded terms and conditions do not include a rewards worked example, so here is one built from the published rates. Monthly spend of ₹40,000:
| Spend | Amount | Rate | Points | Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dining and food delivery | ₹8,000 | 10X | 400 | ₹100 |
| Hotel booked via the bank app | ₹10,000 | 10X + 20% bonus | 2,500 | ₹625 |
| Online and offline shopping | ₹12,000 | 3X | 180 | ₹45 |
| Groceries and quick commerce | ₹5,000 | 3X | 75 | ₹18.75 |
| Utility bills | ₹3,000 | 1X | 15 | ₹3.75 |
| Fuel | ₹2,000 | Nil | 0 | ₹0 |
| **Total** | **₹40,000** | **3,170** | **₹792.50** |
That is an effective 1.98% for the month — but note how much of it comes from the single in-app hotel booking. Strip that out and the remaining ₹30,000 returns ₹167.50, or roughly 0.56%. The app travel channel is where this card's real value sits.
Other Benefits
- Movie discount: 25% off up to ₹100 on movie tickets booked through the District by Zomato mobile app, once every calendar month. You must have made at least one transaction on the card in the previous calendar month to unlock it.
- Railway lounge access: 4 complimentary railway lounge visits per quarter across India. Spend ₹20,000 within a calendar month to unlock access in the following month. There is no airport lounge access on this card.
- Fuel surcharge waiver: 1% waiver on fuel transactions between ₹200 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹200 per statement cycle. GST on the surcharge is not reversed.
- Interest-free cash withdrawals: Zero interest on ATM cash withdrawals for up to 45 days; only a ₹199 + GST transaction fee applies. This is unusual — most cards charge interest from day one on cash advances.
- Low interest banding: Interest rates start at 0.71% per month (8.5% per annum) for the strongest credit profiles, though the band runs up to 3.85% per month (46.2% per annum).
- Insurance and assistance: ₹2,00,000 personal accident cover and ₹25,000 lost card liability cover, both valid if you have made at least one transaction in the last 30 days. Complimentary 24x7 roadside assistance worth ₹1,399, usable up to 4 times a year.
- Merchant offers: 300+ merchant offers through the year, including dining discounts of up to 20% across a network of partner restaurants.
- Flexible redemption: Points can be used to pay for online purchases and at some physical stores via the "pay with points" option at checkout, so you are not locked into a catalogue. A redemption fee of ₹99 + GST applies per redemption transaction.
- Add-on and UPI: Add-on cards and image personalisation each cost ₹499 + GST as joining and annual fee. UPI is available through a companion FIRST Digital RuPay Credit Card at ₹199 + GST, earning 1X on UPI transactions up to ₹2,000 and 3X above ₹2,000.
Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn Full Rewards
Zero Reward Points:
- Fuel spends
- EMI transactions and transactions converted to EMI
- Cash withdrawals
- Fees, charges and GST
- Any spend beyond your credit limit within a billing cycle
- The entire billing cycle's points, if you fail to pay at least the Minimum Amount Due by the due date — already-posted points for that cycle are reversed
Reduced to 1X:
- Utility bill payments
- Insurance premium payments
- Railway spends
- FASTag recharges
Excluded from Bonus Reward Points on app travel bookings:
- Any booking converted to EMI
- Cash + Points bookings, where part of the payment is made with Reward Points
Surcharges that can wipe out the reward: rent and property management attracts 1% with a ₹249 minimum; education paid through third-party apps attracts 1% with a ₹249 minimum; fuel attracts 1% if total fuel spends cross ₹30,000 in a cycle; passenger railway attracts 1% above ₹25,000 in a cycle; tolls and bridges attract 1% above ₹10,000 in a cycle. Since these categories earn between 0% and 0.375%, spending on them through this card is usually value-negative.

Is the FIRST Millennia Credit Card Worth It?
For a card that costs nothing to hold, the answer is usually yes — but for narrower reasons than the marketing implies. The headline 10X sounds generous until you convert it: 1.25% value back is decent for a free card but not exceptional, and the 3X base rate of 0.375% on everyday shopping is weak against the cashback cards competing in the same segment. The two things that actually justify the card are the in-app travel channel, where hotels return 6.25% and flights 3.75% up to ₹2,000 of bonus value a month, and the interest-free 45-day cash withdrawal window, which is close to unique in the Indian market. The 24-month points validity, replacing the older never-expire promise, is a real downgrade worth knowing about. The card suits young earners, first-time cardholders and anyone who books travel through the IDFC FIRST app and eats out regularly. It does not suit heavy online shoppers, anyone paying rent, utilities, education or government dues on a card, or international travellers, where the 3.5% markup swamps the 1.25% earn. Treat it as a free supplementary card for dining and app-booked travel rather than a primary daily driver.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is the FIRST Millennia Credit Card really lifetime free? Yes. There is no joining fee and no annual fee, with no minimum spend condition attached. Add-on cards and image personalisation are separately chargeable at ₹499 + GST each.
What changed in the rewards programme on 18 June 2026? The ₹20,000 monthly spend gate on 10X rewards was removed. You now earn 10X on dining, travel and international purchases from the first eligible transaction. Reward points also now carry a 24-month validity.
How much is one Reward Point worth? ₹0.25. Since 1X earns 1 point per ₹200 spent, 1X works out to 0.125% value back, 3X to 0.375% and 10X to 1.25%.
Do my Reward Points expire? Yes. Points are valid for 24 months from the date they are credited. Points earned from the July 2026 statement cycle carry 24 months from credit date, and the balance you held as of the July 2026 cycle stays valid until July 2028.
Does this card give airport lounge access? No. It offers 4 complimentary railway lounge visits per quarter, and you must spend ₹20,000 in a calendar month to unlock that benefit for the following month.
Which spends earn no rewards at all? Fuel, EMI transactions, cash withdrawals, and fees and charges. Rewards are also forfeited for a billing cycle if you do not pay at least the Minimum Amount Due by the due date.
How do the in-app travel bonus points work? Book flights or hotels through the FIRST Rewards Gallery in the IDFC FIRST Bank app and you earn bonus points on top of the standard 10X. Hotels reach 6.25% total value back and flights 3.75%. Bonus points are capped at 8,000 per calendar month across both, apply only to full-swipe transactions, and are credited by the 5th of the month after travel or check-in.
Can I use this card for UPI payments? Not directly — the Millennia card is a Visa or Mastercard product. You can apply for a companion FIRST Digital RuPay Credit Card at ₹199 + GST, which links to the same credit limit and earns 1X on UPI transactions up to ₹2,000 and 3X above ₹2,000.
Is the interest-free cash withdrawal genuinely free? Interest-free for up to 45 days, yes, but a ₹199 + GST transaction fee applies to each withdrawal. Interest begins accruing after the 45-day window if the amount is unpaid.
What is the forex markup and is the card good for international spends? The markup is 3.5%. Even though international purchases earn 10X, that 1.25% earn does not come close to covering a 3.5% markup, so the card is a poor choice abroad.
How do I redeem Reward Points? Through the IDFC FIRST Bank mobile app or firstrewards.in — as payment for online purchases and at some physical stores via "pay with points" at the payment gateway, against flights and hotels on the FIRST Rewards Gallery at 1 point = ₹0.25 covering up to 70% of a booking, or against catalogue products and vouchers. A ₹99 + GST fee applies per redemption transaction.
Should I put rent, utility bills or education fees on this card? Generally no. Utilities earn only 1X, and rent, education through third-party apps, tolls, railways and fuel each attract a 1% surcharge once thresholds are crossed, which exceeds anything you earn back.
