IndiGo Kotak Credit Card Review 2026: BluChips on IndiGo Flights, Milestone Vouchers, Fees & FAQs
The IndiGo Kotak Credit Card is the entry card in Kotak's co-branded IndiGo range, sitting below the ₹3,000 IndiGo Kotak Premium at a ₹1,500 fee. It earns IndiGo BluChips — IndiGo's own loyalty currency — at up to 19 per ₹100 on IndiGo flights booked direct, 2 per ₹100 on dining and entertainment, and 1 per ₹100 on everything else.
It is a narrow card. BluChips buy IndiGo flights and nothing else, the exclusion list is one of the widest in the Indian market, and there is no lounge access, no fuel surcharge waiver and no fee waiver at any spend level.

A note on what a BluChip is worth
Kotak's marketing assumes 1 BluChip = ₹1 and builds every illustration on it. This review uses ₹0.50.
The reason is that a BluChip has no published conversion rate. It is spent against an IndiGo fare like a wallet balance, and IndiGo prices award seats dynamically against the live cash fare — so what a BluChip buys moves with route, date and demand. Kotak's ₹1 is an assumption, not a rate the airline commits to.
Every rupee figure below uses ₹0.50. If you believe you consistently redeem at ₹1, double everything. The relative picture — which categories are worth putting on this card — does not change either way.
Eligibility Criteria
Kotak publishes no income floor for this card. What it does state:
- Resident of India
- Standard Kotak credit assessment
If you held a 6E Rewards card before the range was rebranded, your terms differ — see the FAQ below.
Welcome and Renewal Benefits
Welcome: a voucher worth 2,500 IndiGo BluChips, credited to your linked IndiGo BluChip account on payment of the joining fee. At ₹0.50 per BluChip that is ₹1,250 against a ₹1,500 joining fee — so the first year is not free, unlike on many co-brands.
Renewal: a voucher worth 2,500 IndiGo BluChips on payment of each year's annual fee. Again ₹1,250 against ₹1,500.
Two mechanics matter more than the headline number:
- Vouchers expire 6 months from issuance. BluChips themselves have lifetime validity; the vouchers do not. If you do not fly IndiGo twice a year, you will lose them.
- A voucher is consumed in full on a single one-way booking, whatever the fare. Redeem a 2,500-BluChip voucher against a ₹900 fare and the rest is gone.
Reward Structure: How You Earn
| Spend | BluChips per ₹100 | Effective rate at ₹0.50 |
|---|---|---|
| IndiGo flights booked on the **IndiGo app or website** | up to 19 | **9.5%** |
| Dining and entertainment | 2 | **1%** |
| All other eligible spends | 1 | **0.5%** |
| Excluded categories (see below) | 0 | **0%** |
Nothing on this card is capped. Kotak's FAQ confirms there is no annual ceiling on BluChip accrual.
What the 19 BluChips actually consist of
This is the most important paragraph in the review. Kotak's own T&C breaks the 19 down:
- 8 BluChips — earned by any IndiGo BluChip member, on any payment method
- 3 BluChips — for paying with this credit card
- 4 BluChips — for booking through IndiGo's own website or app
- up to 4 BluChips — a tier bonus based on your BluChip status
Only 3 of the 19 come from the card. The other 16 are IndiGo's own loyalty accrual, available to anyone who joins BluChip for free and books direct.
So the honest comparison against a non-co-branded card is 1.5%, not 9.5%. The 9.5% is what lands in your account, which is what matters for planning your own spend — but it is not what the card contributes over an alternative.
Kotak's value chart assumes Blu 1 tier, which is the entry tier and already carries the full 4-BluChip bonus. So 19 is the ordinary case, not a best case.
The flight rate has three conditions
- Booked direct. The same IndiGo ticket bought through MakeMyTrip, Cleartrip or any OTA earns the 0.5% base rate, not 9.5%.
- You must fly. BluChips credit only after the flight is actually taken, and only if the name on the PNR matches the cardholder. Booking for your family on this card earns nothing.
- Not group, corporate, SME or agent bookings. T&C clause 4.3 excludes those outright.
Dining and entertainment
2 BluChips per ₹100 — 1% — uncapped, identified purely by MCC. Clause 3.2 names 22 codes covering restaurants, bars, cinemas, theatrical producers, arcades, amusement parks, bowling, golf and sports clubs.
These BluChips credit 25 days after the end of the month in which you spent.
Worked example
A cardholder spending ₹6,00,000 in an anniversary year, on Kotak's own assumed split:
| Category | Annual spend | BluChips | Value at ₹0.50 |
|---|---|---|---|
| IndiGo flights booked direct | ₹80,000 | 15,200 | ₹7,600 |
| Dining and entertainment | ₹1,80,000 | 3,600 | ₹1,800 |
| All other eligible categories | ₹3,40,000 | 3,400 | ₹1,700 |
| Renewal voucher | — | 2,500 | ₹1,250 |
| Milestone at ₹1.25L | — | 2,500 | ₹1,250 |
| Milestone at ₹2.5L | — | 2,500 | ₹1,250 |
| Milestone at ₹6L | — | 2,500 | ₹1,250 |
| **Total** | **₹6,00,000** | **32,200** | **₹16,100** |
Against a ₹1,500 fee that is a net ₹14,600, or about 2.4% on ₹6 lakh. Kotak's chart reaches the same 32,200 BluChips but calls it "3 free flights worth ₹10,000 each" — ₹30,000 — by assuming ₹1 per BluChip and that every award seat prices at the cash fare. At ₹0.50 it is closer to one and a half ₹10,000 flights.
Note also that ₹80,000 of annual IndiGo flight spend is a lot. Strip that assumption out and the card earns roughly 0.6% on the rest.
Milestone Benefits
Three vouchers, each worth 2,500 BluChips, on cumulative eligible spend in the anniversary year:
| Spend threshold | Voucher | Value at ₹0.50 |
|---|---|---|
| ₹1,25,000 | 2,500 BluChips | ₹1,250 |
| ₹2,50,000 | 2,500 BluChips | ₹1,250 |
| ₹6,00,000 | 2,500 BluChips | ₹1,250 |
Clearing all three needs ₹6 lakh of eligible spend and returns ₹3,750 — a 0.63% return on that spend, on top of the earn rate.
The gap between the second and third milestone is the awkward one: ₹3.5 lakh of additional spend for a single ₹1,250 voucher, which is 0.36% on the increment. There is no reason to chase it.
Excluded categories do not count towards milestones (clause 5.1), and spend is measured net of reversals — a refund after a milestone credits is adjusted against the next one.
Other Benefits
Very little, and it is worth being blunt about it:
- No lounge access. Neither domestic nor international. Lounge access on the IndiGo Kotak range is a Premium-variant benefit.
- No fuel surcharge waiver. The MITC lists the IndiGo Kotak Credit Card among the products explicitly not eligible. Fuel MCCs are also on the exclusion list, so fuel earns nothing and is surcharged in full and attracts a 1% fee above ₹35,000 per cycle.
- No railway surcharge waiver either.
- No insurance cover, no golf, no wellness programme.
- No fee waiver at any spend level.
On the RuPay variant, credit-card-on-UPI spends earn 1 BluChip per ₹100 outside the excluded MCCs — which is genuinely useful, since the base rate is the same as on card rails.
Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn
T&C clause 4.2 points at Kotak's June 2025 MCC schedule, and that schedule is long — 62 codes across 13 categories:
| Category | MCCs |
|---|---|
| Utility and telecom | 4814, 4899, 4900 |
| Insurance | 5960, 6300 |
| Wallet load | 6540 |
| Rent | 6513 |
| Government and tax | 9211, 9222, 9311, 9399, 9402, 9405 |
| Fuel | 5541, 5542 |
| Education | 8211, 8220, 8241, 8244, 8249, 8299 |
| Online skill-based gaming | 5816 |
| Passenger railways | 4111, 4112 |
| Tolls and bridges | 4784 |
| **B2B and B2B-related** | 2741, 2791, 2842, 5021, 5039, 5046, 5051, 5065, 5072, 5074, 5085, 5099, 5111, 5131, 5137, 5139, 5169, 5199, 7311, 7361, **7372**, 7375, 7379, 7395, 7399, 8734 |
| Agricultural services | 0763, 0780, 5261 |
| Contractor | 1520, 1711, 1731, 1740, 1750, 1761, 1771, 1799 |
This is unusually wide for a co-brand card. Three things are worth flagging:
- The B2B block is real and catches ordinary spend. MCC 7372 is computer programming and data processing, which is where cloud storage and SaaS subscriptions sit. If you pay for cloud services or AI tools on this card, you earn nothing.
- Rail and tolls are excluded. Train tickets, metro and FASTag recharges all earn zero.
- Excluded spend also doesn't build milestone progress. So a cardholder whose spend skews towards these categories may never reach even the ₹1.25 lakh first tier.

The fee table on this card is notably harsher than on Kotak's Air range: 45% APR against 42% on the Air+, 3.50% forex against 2%, and no fee waiver against ₹2.5 lakh and ₹4 lakh waivers on the Air and Air+ respectively.
IndiGo Kotak vs IndiGo Kotak Premium
| IndiGo Kotak | IndiGo Kotak Premium | |
|---|---|---|
| Fee | ₹1,500 | ₹3,000 |
| IndiGo flight rate | 19 BluChips/₹100 (9.5%) | 21 BluChips/₹100 (10.5%) |
| Dining and entertainment | 2/₹100 (1%) | 3/₹100 (1.5%) |
| Base rate | 1/₹100 (0.5%) | 2/₹100 (1%) |
| Welcome / renewal voucher | 2,500 BluChips (₹1,250) | 4,000 BluChips (₹2,000) |
| Milestones | 3 × 2,500 BluChips | 4 × 4,000 BluChips |
| Lounge | None | Yes |
The Premium doubles the base rate for double the fee, which is a wash at low spend and favourable above roughly ₹1.5 lakh of non-flight spend a year. Its milestone programme is also materially richer — 16,000 BluChips against 7,500. If you are seriously considering the base card, work out your non-flight spend first; if it exceeds ₹1.5 lakh, the Premium is probably the better buy.
Who Should Get the IndiGo Kotak Credit Card
Good fit if:
- You fly IndiGo several times a year and book direct on the app or website, in your own name
- Your dining and entertainment spend is meaningful — that 1% is the card's second-best rate
- You can reliably use two 2,500-BluChip vouchers within 6 months of each issuance
- You want an IndiGo co-brand and the Premium's ₹3,000 fee is more than you want to commit
Look elsewhere if:
- You book flights through OTAs, or often book for other people
- You fly mostly on other carriers — BluChips buy IndiGo seats and nothing else
- Your spend includes cloud services, SaaS, rail, tolls, fuel or utilities — large parts of the taxonomy earn nothing here
- You want lounge access, a fuel surcharge waiver or a fee waiver — this card has none of the three
- You spend abroad — 3.50% forex with a 0.5% base rate is a losing combination
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the joining and annual fee? ₹1,500 + GST for both. There is no waiver at any spend level.
What is an IndiGo BluChip worth? Kotak assumes ₹1. This review uses ₹0.50, because IndiGo prices award seats against the live cash fare and there is no published conversion rate. Your realised value will vary by route, date and demand.
Do BluChips expire? BluChips themselves have lifetime validity. The vouchers issued as welcome, milestone and renewal benefits expire 6 months from the date of issuance.
Can I use a BluChip voucher on a return flight? No. A voucher is consumed in full on a single one-way booking, whatever the fare.
Do I earn BluChips on flights I book for family? No. BluChips credit only if the name on the PNR matches the cardholder — and only after the flight is actually taken.
Does this card have lounge access? No. That is a Premium-variant benefit.
Does it have a fuel surcharge waiver? No. The MITC explicitly lists the IndiGo Kotak Credit Card as not eligible, and fuel MCCs earn no BluChips either.
I had a 6E Rewards card. What are my terms? Kotak migrated the range. A former 6E Rewards XL holder (₹1,500 fee) keeps that fee and gets all benefits. A former 6E Rewards holder (₹700 fee) keeps the ₹700 fee until card expiry but gets no welcome or renewal benefits — all other benefits apply. Old 6E Rewards balances were converted to BluChips with an 18% bonus by 3 October 2025.
Is the RuPay variant worth taking? If you use credit-card-on-UPI, yes. UPI spends earn the same 1 BluChip per ₹100 outside the excluded MCCs.
Can I transfer BluChips to another airline? No. BluChips are IndiGo's own currency and redeem for IndiGo flights or not at all.
Fees, rates and benefits verified against the IndiGo Kotak Credit Card product page, the Kotak IndiGo Credit Card T&C, the card's value chart, the BluChip and voucher redemption guide, Kotak's MCC schedule dated 1 June 2025 and the Kotak credit-card MITC as at 23 September 2026. BluChips are valued at ₹0.50 throughout. Kotak and IndiGo reserve the right to change MCC lists, earn rates and charges. Confirm current terms before applying.
