PVR INOX Kotak Credit Card Review 2026: Free Movie Tickets, 20% Off F&B, Zero Joining Fee & FAQs
The PVR INOX Kotak Credit Card has no reward points, no cashback and no earn rate of any kind. What it has instead is one mechanic: one PVR INOX movie ticket for every ₹10,000 you bill in a month, plus flat discounts of 20% on cinema food and 5% on tickets.
The joining fee is nil and the annual fee is ₹499 from the second year. For someone who goes to the cinema regularly, that is a very easy card to justify. For everyone else it is a zero-percent card with a fee.

The Ticket Milestone: How It Works
One PVR INOX movie ticket for every ₹10,000 of billed spend in a monthly billing cycle. It repeats with no published ceiling:
| Monthly billed spend | Tickets earned |
|---|---|
| Under ₹10,000 | None |
| ₹10,001 – ₹20,000 | 1 |
| ₹20,001 – ₹30,000 | 2 |
| ₹30,001 – ₹40,000 | 3 |
| ₹40,001 – ₹50,000 | 4 |
| ₹50,001 and above | 5, and so on |
Kotak's own examples run to 10 tickets on ₹1,05,000 of monthly spend.
Each ticket arrives as an M Coupon worth ₹300. At face value that is a 3% return — better than almost any cashback card in the market.
Three things pull the 3% down
1. It's a slab, not a ratio. ₹19,000 of monthly spend earns exactly one coupon — the same as ₹10,001. That ₹8,999 of spend returns nothing. Unless you land close to a ₹10,000 multiple, you are leaving value on the table every month.
2. The coupon is consumed in full, whatever the ticket costs. One M Coupon redeems against exactly one ticket. If the ticket is ₹250, the remaining ₹50 is forfeited. Kotak's own T&C gives the example: two ₹250 tickets and one coupon reduces one ticket to zero and leaves the other payable in full.
3. Anything above ₹300 comes out of your pocket. Premium formats, recliners and weekend evening shows regularly exceed ₹300; the difference is yours.
A realistic figure for someone spending ₹15,000 a month and booking ₹250 weekday tickets is closer to 1.7% than 3%.
Claiming is on you, and there are two clocks
Nothing is credited automatically. You must claim the coupon from the Kotak Mobile Banking app or net banking:
- Log in → Credit Card Overview → select the PVR INOX Kotak Credit Card
- Select "PVR INOX Coupon Claim", enter the eligible month
- Coupons appear in "My PVR INOX" with a code, issue date and validity date
Then:
- Claim window: 2 monthly billing cycles. A coupon earned in one cycle must be claimed within two cycles or it is lost.
- Validity: 60 days from the date of claim.
A cardholder who doesn't open the Kotak app roughly monthly will forfeit coupons they have already earned in spend. This is the single most common way value leaks on this card.
Using an M Coupon
On the PVR app or pvrcinemas.com only:
- Choose your cinema, movie, show and seats
- Scroll to "PVR Exclusives" (app) or "Avail Offers" (website)
- Select the M-Coupon option
- Enter the last 5 digits of your registered mobile number and the last 4 of your card
- Enter your coupon code and pay the balance with the card
The terms are unusually generous on format: coupons work on any format, any theatre and any category — including premium screens, subject to the ₹300 cap. The exception is franchise cinemas such as PVR Mahagun and PVR Opulent, which are excluded. Booking fees, convenience fees and taxes are always payable by you.
One clawback to know about
If a coupon has already been used and the transaction that earned it is later cancelled, Kotak debits ₹250 to your card account as the cost of the ticket. A refunded purchase can therefore cost you money.
The Discounts: probably the better benefit
20% off food and beverages at any PVR INOX theatre, or on the PVR INOX app or website. No cap and no usage limit stated anywhere in Kotak's documents.
5% off movie tickets at any PVR INOX theatre, or on the app or website. Also uncapped.
Applied either by paying at the counter with the card, or online by selecting "PVR INOX Kotak Credit Card" in the bank-offers section before payment.
For most cinemagoers the F&B discount is worth more than the ticket milestone. Cinema food is where the money actually goes — a popcorn-and-drink combo for two can match the ticket price — and unlike the M Coupon the discount is uncapped, has no expiry, no claim step, no monthly threshold and applies on every single visit. If you go once a month and spend ₹800 on food across the year's visits, that alone is roughly ₹1,900 a year against a ₹499 fee.
In-cinema lounges
Your card gets you into PVR INOX in-cinema lounges at no entry cost — you simply present it. Anything you buy inside is at your own cost.
These are not airport lounges. This card has no airport lounge access, domestic or international. Do not confuse the two.
Category Restrictions: Where Spend Doesn't Count
Remarkably short, and this is the card's best-kept secret.
Only three categories are excluded from the ticket-milestone calculation:
- Rent payments (MCC 6513)
- Wallet loads (MCC 6540)
- Online skill-based gaming (MCC 5816)
Plus the usual mechanical exclusions: fees and charges, EMI transactions, balance transfers, cash advances and cancelled transactions. Only settled transactions count.
Compare that to Kotak's bank-wide schedule, which excludes 62 MCCs across 13 categories, or to the sibling PVR Kotak Gold and PVR Kotak Platinum cards, which also strip out utility and education spend. The PVR INOX Kotak card does not.
That means utility bills, insurance premiums, school fees, government payments, fuel, rail tickets and even B2B spend all build ticket progress here. On a card where every eligible rupee counts equally towards a ₹10,000 slab, that is genuinely useful and almost entirely unadvertised.
Two caveats before you route everything through it:
- Kotak charges 1% on utility spend above ₹50,000 per statement cycle and 1% on fuel above ₹35,000 — so heavy spend in those categories builds milestone progress but costs a fee.
- MITC clause 8.6 reserves Kotak's right to cap the number of tickets awarded in a given period. No cap is currently published for this card, but it could be introduced.

No fuel surcharge waiver and no railway surcharge waiver. The MITC lists PVR INOX among the products explicitly not eligible for either. Combined with the 1% fuel fee above ₹35,000, fuel is a category to keep off this card — though it does still count towards the ticket milestone.
Note that the ₹299 add-on fee is unusual for Kotak, most of whose cards issue add-ons free. It may still be worth paying: add-on spend accrues to the primary account for milestone purposes, so a second card in the household helps fill the ₹10,000 slabs.
What This Card Is Not
Worth stating plainly, because the marketing does not:
- It earns no rewards. No points, no cashback, no miles. Every rupee you spend earns exactly zero directly — the only return is the monthly ticket milestone.
- There is no fee waiver. The ₹499 is payable from year two regardless of spend.
- There is no welcome bonus and no renewal bonus.
- There is no airport lounge access, no insurance cover, no golf and no wellness programme.
- It is not a buy-one-get-one card. Confusingly, the Kotak card that carries an actual PVR INOX BOGO is the Kotak Cashback+ — a different product.
Is It Worth It?
The arithmetic is simple. At ₹499 a year, the card pays for itself if you:
- Earn and actually use two M Coupons a year (₹600 of value), or
- Spend roughly ₹2,500 a year on cinema food and take the 20% discount (₹500), or
- Any combination of the two
For a household that goes to PVR INOX once a month, both of those are trivially met and the card is comfortably positive. For someone who goes twice a year, it is marginal. For someone who never goes, it is a ₹499 card earning 0%.
The joining fee being nil makes the first year genuinely free, so the downside of trying it is limited to the effort of closing it.
Who Should Get the PVR INOX Kotak Credit Card
Good fit if:
- You go to PVR INOX at least once a month
- You buy food and drinks at the cinema — the 20% is uncapped and reliable
- You bill at least ₹10,000 a month on a card, and can shape spend near ₹10,000 multiples
- You will actually open the Kotak app monthly to claim coupons
- You want a second card with no joining fee and a narrow, specific purpose
Look elsewhere if:
- You rarely go to the cinema, or you prefer INOX's competitors
- You want a card that earns on your spending — this one earns nothing
- You won't remember to claim coupons within two billing cycles
- Your spend is lumpy and rarely lands near ₹10,000 multiples
- You want this as your primary card — 0% earn, 3.50% forex, 45% APR and no fee waiver make it a poor one
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the joining and annual fee? The joining fee is nil. The annual fee is ₹499 + GST from the second year, with no waiver at any spend level. Add-on cards cost ₹299.
How many movie tickets do I get? One for every ₹10,000 of billed spend in a monthly billing cycle, with no published ceiling. ₹22,000 of spend earns 2; ₹75,000 earns 7.
How much is each ticket worth? Each M Coupon is capped at ₹300. If the ticket costs more, you pay the difference; if it costs less, the balance is forfeited.
Do the coupons expire? Twice over. You must claim a coupon within 2 monthly billing cycles of the cycle that earned it, and once claimed it is valid for 60 days.
Where can I use an M Coupon? On the PVR app or pvrcinemas.com, for any format, any theatre and any category. Franchise cinemas such as PVR Mahagun and PVR Opulent are excluded.
Can I use two coupons on one booking? Yes, but each coupon applies to exactly one ticket. Two coupons on two ₹250 tickets reduces both to zero; one coupon on two ₹250 tickets reduces only one.
Does this card earn reward points or cashback? No. There is no earn rate of any kind. The monthly ticket milestone and the PVR INOX discounts are the entire proposition.
Which spends don't count towards the ticket milestone? Rent, wallet loads and online skill-based gaming, plus fees, EMI transactions, balance transfers, cash advances and cancelled transactions. Everything else counts — including utilities, education and insurance, which most Kotak cards exclude.
Does it have airport lounge access? No. The "premium lounges" benefit is entry to PVR INOX in-cinema lounges, which is unrelated to airport access.
Is there a fuel surcharge waiver? No. PVR INOX is listed in the MITC as not eligible, and fuel spend above ₹35,000 per cycle attracts a 1% fee.
What happens if I return something I bought with the card? If the coupon earned on that transaction has already been used, Kotak debits ₹250 to your account as the cost of the ticket.
Fees, rates and benefits verified against the PVR INOX Kotak Credit Card product page, section B ("PVR INOX Kotak Program", clauses 7 to 9) of the Kotak credit-card MITC, and Kotak's MCC schedule dated 1 June 2025, as at 23 September 2026. Kotak reserves the right to cap the number of tickets awarded in a period and to change MCC lists and charges. Confirm current terms before applying.
