Reward Structure: How You Earn

Cashback is credited in rupees, so every percentage here is a true percentage with no point valuation to translate.

2.5% cashback, capped at ₹300 a calendar month.

RBL stopped paying rewards on a whole category block on 13 November 2023 — Fuel & Auto, Utilities, Insurance, Quasi-Cash, Real Estate and Rental, Education, and Wallets. The same list is excluded from milestone spend and from the lounge qualification on the banking cards.

The caps that actually bind

Headline rates mean little until you know where they stop. These are the limits on this card:

CapLimit
Monthly300 points per calendar month

The cap binds at ₹12,000 of qualifying spend a month — ₹3,600 a year at most from that band.

RBL publishes no general rate for spending outside the named bands on this card, so any structured comparison shows a placeholder rather than a real figure.

Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn

  • Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: Fuel & Auto, Utilities, Insurance, Quasi-Cash, Real Estate and Rental, Education, and Wallets and Service Providers — RBL's own category list, excluded from earning AND from milestone spend calculation, with effect from 13 November 2023. Railways and Government are excluded on some cards additionally. Base Reward Points are also NOT accrued on EMI conversion of retail transactions, including Split-N-Pay and EMI requests placed at the point of sale.
  • Point expiry: Reward Points expire after the validity period RBL prescribes and are forfeited on card closure. Points transferred to a partner programme are governed by that programme's expiry rules, not RBL's.
  • Redemption fee: ₹99 per redemption.
  • Monthly cap: 300 a month on the accelerated band.

Is the RBL Bank Paisabazaar Duet Plus Credit Card Worth It?

RBL's own worked example shows the caps biting: a transaction 'capped at INR 200 (hence instead of INR 300, INR 200 earned)'. That is how the two-ceiling structure is confirmed, and it is unusual for a bank to publish the arithmetic.

The ₹4 lakh fee waiver is the highest on any RBL card outside the premium tier — demanding for a ₹1,499 card.

Against the free Duet, Plus pays 2.5% against 1% but costs ₹1,499 and caps tighter at ₹300 a month against ₹500. The free card wins unless your spending sits squarely in the 2.5% band.

The ₹1,499 fee is waived at ₹400,000 of annual spend, excluding the fuel, utilities, insurance, rent, education and wallet block.

RBL rounds down on every transaction. A ₹350 spend at 1 point per ₹100 earns 3 points and the ₹50 is lost — every time.
