Reward Structure: How You Earn

RBL values a Reward Point at ₹0.25 — its own working figure rather than a published redemption table.

RBL publishes no general per-rupee accrual rate for this card. Any structured comparison will show 0%, which is a placeholder for unknown — not a statement that the card earns nothing.

RBL publishes the ticket thresholds in detail but never states a per-rupee accrual rate.

RBL stopped paying rewards on a whole category block on 13 November 2023 — Fuel & Auto, Utilities, Insurance, Quasi-Cash, Real Estate and Rental, Education, and Wallets. The same list is excluded from milestone spend.

Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn

  • Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: Fuel & Auto, Utilities, Insurance, Quasi-Cash, Real Estate and Rental, Education, and Wallets and Service Providers — RBL's own category list, excluded from earning AND from milestone spend calculation, with effect from 13 November 2023. Railways and Government are excluded on some cards additionally. Base Reward Points are also NOT accrued on EMI conversion of retail transactions, including Split-N-Pay and EMI requests placed at the point of sale.
  • Point expiry: Reward Points expire after the validity period RBL prescribes and are forfeited on card closure. Points transferred to a partner programme are governed by that programme's expiry rules, not RBL's.
  • Redemption fee: ₹99 per redemption.

Is the RBL Bank Popcorn Credit Card Worth It?

Judge it on the tickets. Two free movie tickets a month for ₹5,000 of spend is worth roughly ₹500 a month at metro prices — ₹6,000 a year against a ₹1,000 fee, if you go to the cinema monthly.

The weekly benefit at ₹2,500 of spend adds to that.

If you do not go to the cinema there is nothing here, because the reward structure is unpublished.
