IndiGo SBI Card ELITE costs ₹4,999 and earns 7 IndiGo BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo flights, 2 elsewhere, with four milestone vouchers worth ₹12,000. But lounge access is gated on previous-quarter spend and there is no fee waiver. Full maths, fees and FAQs.

The IndiGo SBI Card ELITE is SBI's premium IndiGo co-brand: ₹4,999 a year, 7 IndiGo BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo flights booked direct, 3 on travel and 2 on everything else, with a 5,000-BluChip renewal voucher every year and four milestone vouchers worth up to ₹12,000.

Three things shape the decision, and none is obvious from the marketing. BluChips are worth ₹0.50, not ₹1. Lounge access is gated on previous-quarter spend. And there is no fee waiver at any level.

Eligibility Criteria

SBI Card publishes no age or income threshold. Approval rests on its own assessment. Indian residency and a valid PAN are required. Add-on cards are free.

What a BluChip Is Actually Worth: ₹0.50

The co-brand marketing implies a BluChip is worth a rupee. It is not, and the reason matters.

IndiGo prices award seats dynamically against the live cash fare. There is no published conversion rate. What a BluChip buys moves with route, date and demand — spend them on a ₹3,000 Delhi–Mumbai hop and they go further than on a ₹12,000 peak-season fare.

₹0.50 is the working valuation used throughout this article, and every rupee figure below derives from it:

SBI's headlineAt ₹0.50 a BluChip
7 BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo**3.5%**
3 BluChips per ₹100 on travel**1.5%**
2 BluChips per ₹100 elsewhere**1%**
5,000-BluChip voucher**₹2,500**
6,000-BluChip milestone voucher**₹3,000**

If you consistently book cheap off-peak fares you will beat ₹0.50. If you book peak-season tickets you will do worse. Nothing about that is stated on SBI's page.

The IndiGo Rate Depends on Where You Book

7 BluChips per ₹100 applies only to IndiGo flights booked on the IndiGo app or goindigo.in.

The same IndiGo ticket bought through MakeMyTrip, Cleartrip, Yatra or any other travel site earns the travel rate (1.5%) or the base rate (1%) instead — not 3.5%. This is a booking-channel condition, not a merchant category, and it is the easiest way to lose most of the card's value without noticing.

Lounge Access Is Gated — Read This Carefully

The headline is 8 complimentary domestic airport lounge visits a year (2 per quarter) and 6 international.

But access in any quarter requires ₹1,00,000 of spend in the previous quarter.

The consequences:

  • A new cardholder gets nothing in their first quarter — there is no previous quarter to qualify on.
  • Any quarter you fall short costs you the following quarter's visits, and they do not roll forward.
  • Sustaining the benefit means ₹4 lakh a year of spend, every year, spread evenly.

A cardholder spending ₹4 lakh unevenly — say ₹2 lakh in one quarter and ₹60,000 in each of the others — loses most of the entitlement despite clearing the annual figure. It is a quarterly test, not an annual one.

Reward Structure

SpendBluChipsEffective rate at ₹0.50
**IndiGo flights, booked on app or goindigo.in**7 per ₹100**3.5%**
Hotel, lodging and travel3 per ₹100**1.5%**
Everything else2 per ₹100**1%**
Utility, government, rental, fuel, gaming, cross-sell, insuranceNil**0%**

No caps on any rate, which is a genuine strength. An uncapped 1% base rate is respectable for an airline co-brand.

The exclusion list is wider than most SBI cards and SBI names it outright: utility, government transactions, rental, fuel, gaming, cross-sell and insurance. Several of those are ordinary recurring payments.

Welcome, Renewal and Milestone Benefits

Welcome:

  • A 5,000-BluChip voucher (₹2,500), after annual fee payment and a first transaction within 60 days
  • 1 6E Eats voucher
  • 4 6E Prime Passes, on spending ₹1,00,000 within 90 days of account opening

SBI publishes no rupee value for the 6E Eats voucher or the Prime Passes, so neither is counted — the ₹2,500 figure understates the first-year package.

Renewal — and this is a genuine recurring benefit: a 5,000-BluChip voucher (₹2,500) on payment of each year's annual fee, plus another 6E Eats voucher. That covers half the ₹4,999 fee, every year.

Milestones — four rungs, all the same size:

Annual spendBenefitValue at ₹0.50
₹3,00,0006,000-BluChip voucher₹3,000
₹6,00,0006,000-BluChip voucher₹3,000
₹9,00,0006,000-BluChip voucher₹3,000
₹12,00,0006,000-BluChip voucher₹3,000
**All four****24,000 BluChips****₹12,000**

Clearing all four is 1% on ₹12 lakh of spend in milestones alone, on top of the earn rate.

One caution on the vouchers. BluChips here arrive as a voucher, not as a points balance. On the equivalent Kotak IndiGo cards those vouchers expire six months from issuance and are consumed in full on a single one-way booking whatever the fare — so a 6,000-BluChip voucher spent on a ₹2,000 ticket wastes most of it. SBI does not publish its own voucher terms on the captured pages, so check them before planning a redemption.

Worked Example

Illustrative, at ₹55,000 a month — ₹6.6 lakh a year, clearing two milestone rungs and holding the lounge gate:

CategoryMonthly spendRateBluChipsValue
IndiGo flights, booked direct₹12,0003.5%840₹420
Hotels and other travel₹8,0001.5%240₹120
Everything else₹32,0001%640₹320
Utilities, fuel, insurance₹3,0000%0₹0
**Monthly total****₹55,000****1,720****₹860 — 1.56%**

Annual tally:

BluChips earned₹10,320
Milestones at ₹3 lakh and ₹6 lakh₹6,000
Renewal voucher₹2,500
**Steady state total****₹18,820**
Annual fee**₹4,999** (never waived)
**Net****₹13,821 — 2.09% of spend**

Plus 8 domestic and 6 international lounge visits (₹1.65 lakh a quarter comfortably clears the ₹1 lakh gate), 6E Eats vouchers and the Prime Passes.

Note how much sits in the fixed benefits: ₹8,500 of the ₹18,820 comes from the renewal voucher and milestones rather than the earn rate.

Where You Won't Earn

SBI names the exclusions outright: utility, government transactions, rental, fuel, gaming, cross-sell and insurance, plus cash advances.

The fuel surcharge waiver is the whole fuel benefit: 1% reversed on transactions between ₹500 and ₹4,000, capped at ₹400 per statement cycle — double the ₹100 most SBI cards allow.

SBI's range-wide transaction fees apply: ₹199 per rent payment, 1% on wallet loads above ₹1,000, 1% on utility payments once the cycle total passes ₹50,000, and 1% on education payments through third-party apps. Note that rent, utilities and insurance are *excluded from rewards and several carry their own fee*.

The ELITE roughly doubles everything and adds international lounge access. Break-even on the ₹3,500 fee difference is about ₹7 lakh of general annual spend on the doubled base rate alone — or considerably less if you fly IndiGo often, where the rate goes from 1.5% to 3.5%.

But the lounge gate also doubles, to ₹1 lakh a quarter. If you cannot sustain that, the ELITE's headline lounge entitlement is worth less than the standard card's smaller but more achievable one.

Is the IndiGo SBI Card ELITE Worth It?

Yes, if you fly IndiGo often and spend ₹1 lakh+ a quarter. 3.5% on IndiGo fares, ₹12,000 of milestones, a ₹2,500 renewal voucher and fourteen lounge visits comfortably clear a ₹4,999 fee.

Yes, if you book direct. The 7-BluChip rate is the card's reason to exist and it only applies on the IndiGo app or website.

No, if your spending is uneven. The lounge gate is a quarterly test, and a weak quarter costs you the next quarter's access regardless of your annual total.

No, if your annual spend is under ₹3 lakh. No fee waiver at any level, no milestone reached, and the ₹2,500 renewal voucher covers only half the fee.

Set expectations on BluChip value. ₹0.50 is a working figure, not a published rate — IndiGo prices awards dynamically, so what your BluChips buy varies with route, date and demand.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the annual fee of the IndiGo SBI Card ELITE? ₹4,999 plus GST, on joining and renewal. No spend-based fee reversal is published at any level for either IndiGo SBI card.

What is an IndiGo BluChip worth? There is no published conversion rate — IndiGo prices award seats dynamically against the live cash fare. ₹0.50 is the working valuation used throughout this review. Cheap off-peak fares beat it; peak fares do not.

What is the reward rate? 7 BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo flights booked on the IndiGo app or website, 3 per ₹100 on hotel, lodging and travel, and 2 per ₹100 on everything else — 3.5%, 1.5% and 1% at ₹0.50 a BluChip. None of the rates is capped.

Does an IndiGo ticket bought on MakeMyTrip earn 7 BluChips? No. The accelerated rate applies only to bookings made on the IndiGo app or goindigo.in. Third-party bookings earn the travel or base rate.

How does the lounge access work? 8 domestic and 6 international visits a year — but access in any quarter requires ₹1,00,000 of spend in the previous quarter. A new cardholder gets nothing in their first quarter, and unused entitlements do not roll forward.

What is the renewal benefit? A 5,000-BluChip voucher (₹2,500 at ₹0.50) plus a 6E Eats voucher, on payment of each year's annual fee. That covers half the fee.

What are the milestone benefits? A 6,000-BluChip voucher at each of ₹3 lakh, ₹6 lakh, ₹9 lakh and ₹12 lakh of annual spend — 24,000 BluChips, or ₹12,000, if all four are cleared.

What is excluded from rewards? Utility, government transactions, rental, fuel, gaming, cross-sell and insurance, plus cash advances — a wider exclusion list than most SBI cards.
