The Landmark Rewards SBI Card is the entry rung of SBI's Landmark range: ₹499 a year, 2.5% at Landmark Group stores, 1.25% on dining, movies and international spends, and 0.25% on everything else — all uncapped.

There is no spend-based fee waiver on any Landmark card. Instead, 2,000 bonus Reward Points worth ₹500 arrive on payment of the fee every year — which covers it exactly, with no spend threshold to clear.

Eligibility Criteria

SBI Card publishes no age or income threshold. Approval rests on its own assessment of income, credit history and internal scoring. Indian residency and a valid PAN are required. Add-on cards are free.

The Annual Bonus Replaces the Fee Waiver

There is no spend-based fee reversal on any Landmark card. SBI's pages do not address the question either way, and third-party databases confirm the absence.

What the card does instead: 2,000 bonus Reward Points, worth ₹500, on payment of the annual fee — every year. SBI's wording is "on payment of annual fees", not "on joining".

₹500 against a ₹499 fee means the card pays for itself the moment you pay for it, with no threshold to clear. Compare SimplySAVE at the same ₹499, which needs ₹1 lakh of annual spend before its fee is reversed. For a light spender, the Landmark structure is straightforwardly better — you get your money back whether you spend ₹20,000 or ₹2 lakh.

No caps on any rate.

The Landmark Group brands are Lifestyle, Max Fashion, Home Centre, EasyBuy, SPAR and Babyshop, and the rate applies online and in store.

2.5% uncapped at a ₹499 fee is strong for the entry tier. SimplySAVE's best rate is 1.67% and it caps the band at 5,000 points a month; this card has no cap at all.

Two modelling notes worth knowing:

  • Comparison engines will understate this card at SPAR and Babyshop. Those two have no distinct merchant identity in the underlying data, so automated calculators score spend there at the 0.25% base rate rather than 2.5%. Lifestyle, Max Fashion, Home Centre and EasyBuy are recognised.
  • The international element cannot be modelled. Geography is not a merchant category, so calculators apply only the dining and movies legs of the 1.25% band. And with a 3.5% forex markup, earning 1.25% on foreign spend leaves you 2.25% down anyway.

The exclusion list is wider than most SBI cards: fuel, rental, government spends, gaming, wallet loads and EMI all earn nothing.

Milestone

8,000 bonus Reward Points — ₹2,000 — at ₹2,00,000 of annual spend.

One rung, at about ₹17,000 a month. Combined with the ₹500 annual bonus, a cardholder clearing ₹2 lakh takes ₹2,500 in fixed benefits — five times the fee — before the earn rate.

That milestone is the card's best-value feature. ₹2,000 on ₹2 lakh is a 1% return on the threshold, on top of whatever the rates deliver.

No Lounge Access

Worth stating plainly: the entry Landmark card has no airport lounge programme, no insurance and no other travel benefit. The SELECT adds four domestic visits a year; the PRIME adds eight plus four international.

Worked Example

Illustrative, at ₹18,000 a month — ₹2.16 lakh a year, clearing the milestone:

CategoryMonthly spendRatePointsValue
Lifestyle, Max, Home Centre₹4,0002.5%400₹100
Dining and movies₹3,0001.25%150₹37.50
Everything else₹9,5000.25%95₹23.75
Fuel, rent, wallet₹1,5000%0₹0
**Monthly total****₹18,000****645****₹161 — 0.9%**

Annual tally:

Reward Points earned₹1,935
Annual bonus points (every year)₹500
Milestone at ₹2 lakh₹2,000
**Total****₹4,435**
Annual fee₹499
**Net****₹3,936 — 1.82% of spend**

Note that the fixed benefits — ₹2,500 — outweigh the ₹1,935 earned from spending. On this card, clearing ₹2 lakh matters more than optimising which categories you use it for.

Below ₹2 lakh the picture thins considerably: at ₹10,000 a month the card returns roughly ₹1,075 in points plus the ₹500 bonus, against a ₹499 fee — still positive, but the milestone is what makes it worthwhile.

Where You Won't Earn

SBI names the exclusions: fuel, rental, government spends, gaming, wallet and EMI, plus cash advances.

Rent and property management6513, 7349
Wallet loading6540, 6541

The fuel surcharge waiver is the whole fuel benefit: 1% reversed on transactions between ₹500 and ₹3,000, capped at ₹100 per statement cycle.

SBI's range-wide transaction fees apply: ₹199 per rent payment, 1% on wallet loads above ₹1,000, 1% on utility payments once the cycle total passes ₹50,000, and 1% on education payments through third-party apps. Rent and wallet loads are *excluded from rewards and carry their own fee*.

All three cards cover their own fee through the annual bonus, so the comparison is really about rate and milestone, not cost.

Break-even from this card to the SELECT is roughly ₹80,000 of annual Landmark Group spend on the Landmark rate alone — though the SELECT also doubles the dining band and the base rate and adds lounge access, which shifts the crossover lower in practice.

Is the Landmark Rewards SBI Card Worth It?

Yes, for any Landmark Group shopper. 2.5% uncapped at Lifestyle, Max and Home Centre, with the ₹499 fee covered by the annual bonus regardless of spend, is a clean proposition with essentially no downside.

Yes, if you can clear ₹2 lakh a year. The ₹2,000 milestone is the single biggest component of the card's return.

Yes, as a cheap second card. It costs nothing net and earns well in one place — a sensible companion to a general-purpose card.

No, as a primary card. A 0.25% base rate is among the weakest in SBI's range, and there is no lounge access, insurance or travel benefit of any kind.

Consider the SELECT if your Landmark spend exceeds roughly ₹80,000 a year, or if you want the doubled dining band and lounge access.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the annual fee of the Landmark Rewards SBI Card? ₹499 plus GST, on joining and renewal. There is no spend-based fee reversal — but 2,000 bonus Reward Points worth ₹500 are credited on payment of the fee every year, which covers it.

What is the reward rate at Landmark Group stores? 10 Reward Points per ₹100 — 2.5% at 4 points to the rupee, uncapped, online and in store.

Which brands count as Landmark Group? Lifestyle, Max Fashion, Home Centre, EasyBuy, SPAR and Babyshop. Comparison tools may not recognise SPAR and Babyshop and will understate the card there.

What is excluded from rewards? Fuel, rental, government spends, gaming, wallet loads and EMI, plus cash advances — a wider list than most SBI cards.
