South Indian Bank SBI Card PRIME Review 2026: Fees, Rewards, Benefits & FAQs
South Indian Bank SBI Card PRIME costs ₹2,999 a year and is the South Indian Bank edition of SBI Card PRIME — 2.5% uncapped on four everyday categories, plus 5% on utility standing instructions. Identical rates, caps and benefits to the parent card. Quick facts, what to watch, and FAQs.
The South Indian Bank SBI Card PRIME is the edition of SBI Card's SBI Card PRIME distributed through South Indian Bank. It is offered to South Indian Bank's own customers, typically through its branch network across Kerala.
The short version: this card is commercially identical to the SBI Card PRIME. Its fee, fee-reversal threshold, reward rates, caps, welcome benefit, milestone programme, lounge entitlement, insurance and fuel surcharge waiver are all the same. A line-by-line comparison of the two product pages found no difference in any published rate, cap, fee or benefit — only the bank's name on the card, and on some pages a shorter lounge-list link. **For the full reward maths, worked examples, category analysis and fee schedule, see the SBI Card PRIME review.** Everything in it applies here unchanged.

Who It Is For
South Indian Bank SBI Card PRIME is a premium everyday card with an uncapped accelerated band, a 5% utility rate and twelve lounge visits a year. Choose it over the mainline SBI Card PRIME on the strength of your banking relationship with South Indian Bank — a branch you already use, an existing account, or a pre-approved offer — because the economics are the same either way.
If you hold no relationship with South Indian Bank, the mainline SBI Card PRIME gives you exactly the same card, and SBI Card distributes it directly.
What to Watch
The 5% utility rate is closed to new cardholders. It applies only to utility bills paid by a Standing Instruction registered on SBI Card's own platforms — and SBI's T&C states that new Autopay registrations were discontinued there on 1 April 2021 under RBI's recurring-transaction rules. Only registrations made on or before 31 March 2021 still earn it, so a new applicant should assume utility spend earns the 0.5% base rate. Where it does apply it is capped at 3,000 Reward Points a month.
The golf benefits are Mastercard-only. Four complimentary green-fee rounds, up to 50% off golf games and a monthly lesson are on the Mastercard variant. Ask for it specifically if golf is why you want the card.
The forex markup is 3.5%, not 1.99%. SBI's reduced rate applies to ELITE and AURUM, not to PRIME — worth knowing on a card sold partly on international lounge access.
Eligibility and How to Apply
The card is distributed through South Indian Bank, so applications normally go through a South Indian Bank branch or its own channels rather than SBI Card's website. SBI Card publishes no age or income threshold for this edition; approval rests on the bank's assessment of income, credit history and internal scoring. Indian residency and a valid PAN are required. Add-on cards are free.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the annual fee of the South Indian Bank SBI Card PRIME? ₹2,999 plus GST, on joining and renewal — the same as the mainline SBI Card PRIME. The renewal fee is reversed if annual spend in the previous year reached ₹3,00,000.
Is it different from the SBI Card PRIME? Not commercially. Every published rate, cap, fee, welcome benefit, milestone and lounge entitlement is identical. The difference is distribution — this edition is issued through South Indian Bank.
What is the reward rate? 2.5% uncapped on four everyday categories, plus 5% on utility standing instructions. The full breakdown, including the categories, caps and worked examples, is in the SBI Card PRIME review.
How do I apply? Through South Indian Bank, normally at a branch. The mainline SBI Card PRIME is available directly from SBI Card if you have no South Indian Bank relationship.
Which is the better card to hold? Whichever you can get more easily. They earn the same, cost the same and carry the same benefits, so there is no reward-based reason to prefer one over the other.
