SBI Card PULSE Review 2026: Health & Fitness Rewards, Free Smartwatch, FITPASS PRO Membership, Fees
SBI Card PULSE review 2026 — 10 Reward Points per ₹100 on chemist, dining, movies and sports, a ₹7,999 Noise smartwatch welcome gift, yearly FITPASS PRO and Netmeds First memberships, 4 lounge visits and a ₹1,499 fee waived at ₹2 lakh spends.
SBI Card PULSE is one of the very few Indian credit cards built around health and fitness rather than travel or shopping. It bundles a smartwatch, a gym-network membership and an online-pharmacy membership on top of accelerated rewards at chemists, restaurants, cinemas and sports retailers. At ₹1,499 a year it is aimed squarely at the cardholder who will actually use a gym pass — for everyone else, the reward maths is thin.

Eligibility Criteria
- Age 21 to 70 years (some aggregators quote an upper limit of 60 — confirm with SBI Card at application).
- Resident Indian, salaried or self-employed with a regular income source.
- Indicative minimum annual income of around ₹2,00,000. SBI Card does not publish a fixed income floor for this card.
- A healthy credit history is expected; aggregators commonly cite a CIBIL score of 750 or above.
- Add-on cards are available free of charge for parents, spouse, children or siblings above 18.
Welcome Benefit
Pay the ₹1,499 joining fee and you become eligible for an e-voucher redeemable for a Noise ColorFit Pulse 4 Pro smartwatch worth ₹7,999. The voucher arrives by SMS or email within 21 working days of the eligibility calculation and must be redeemed on the dedicated Noise link — it cannot be used for any other product on the Noise site, cannot be exchanged for cash, and expires 6 months from the date of generation. The watch itself ships within 20 working days of ordering.
The watch is a 1.96-inch AMOLED unit with Bluetooth calling, 24×7 heart-rate tracking, SpO2, sleep and stress monitoring, over 100 sports modes and an IP68 rating. Noise's own terms state it is meant for general wellness and fitness only, not medical use.
At face value the welcome gift alone is worth more than five times the first-year fee — which is the single strongest argument for this card in year one.
Reward Structure: How You Earn
The card runs on SBI's Shop & Smile Reward Points, valued at 4 Reward Points = ₹1 when redeemed against your card outstanding. That works out to ₹0.25 per point.
| Spend category | Reward Points per ₹100 | Effective value-back |
|---|---|---|
| Chemist & Pharmacy (MCC 5912, 8099) | 10 RP | 2.5% |
| Dining — restaurants, bars, fast food (MCC 5812, 5813, 5814) | 10 RP | 2.5% |
| Movies — cinemas (MCC 7832) | 10 RP | 2.5% |
| Sports — sporting goods, sports apparel, sports and golf clubs (MCC 5655, 5941, 7941, 7997) | 10 RP | 2.5% |
| All other eligible spends | 2 RP | 0.5% |
The monthly cap you need to know about
Accelerated Reward Points are capped at 7,500 Reward Points per calendar month, and that cap is shared across all four accelerated categories combined — not applied per category. Once you cross it, spends in those same categories drop to the ordinary 2 RP per ₹100 for the rest of the month.
Two things follow from the way the terms are worded. First, the cap meters the full 10-point accrual, not just the bonus over base, so 7,500 points is reached at roughly ₹75,000 of combined accelerated spend in a calendar month. Second, the cap resets on a calendar month, not on your statement cycle.
Illustrative earning example
The T&C booklet does not include a rewards worked example, so the following is illustrative only, built from the published rates.
Assume a cardholder spending ₹50,000 a month (₹6 lakh a year):
| Category | Monthly spend | Rate | Monthly Reward Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dining | ₹8,000 | 10 RP / ₹100 | 800 |
| Chemist & pharmacy | ₹5,000 | 10 RP / ₹100 | 500 |
| Sports & gym retail | ₹3,000 | 10 RP / ₹100 | 300 |
| Movies | ₹2,000 | 10 RP / ₹100 | 200 |
| Everything else eligible | ₹32,000 | 2 RP / ₹100 | 640 |
| **Total** | **₹50,000** | **2,440 RP** |
That is 2,440 points a month, or 29,280 points a year — about ₹7,320 in redemption value, an effective 1.22% on ₹6 lakh of spending. Accelerated spends here total ₹18,000 a month, comfortably inside the 7,500-point cap.
Add the ₹1,500 milestone voucher at ₹4 lakh and the ₹1,499 renewal fee reversal at ₹2 lakh, and the same cardholder is looking at roughly ₹10,300 of annual value before counting the two memberships.
Milestone Benefits
- ₹2 lakh annual spends — the ₹1,499 renewal fee is reversed for that year.
- ₹4 lakh annual retail spends — a Netmeds e-gift voucher worth ₹1,500.
The eligible year runs from the date your fee is paid, not the calendar year. So a card opened on 1 June 2026 measures spends from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027.
The milestone voucher is measured on retail spends only. Cash advances, balance transfers, Flexipay EMI conversions, fees, interest and other finance charges do not count towards the ₹4 lakh threshold. The Netmeds voucher is issued within 21 working days of the eligibility calculation, is valid for one year from issue, is single-use, and can be used to order medicines only — toiletries, cosmetics and FMCG products are excluded. If your order is worth less than ₹1,500 the balance is forfeited; if it is worth more, you pay the difference. Your card account must be in good standing.
Other Benefits
FITPASS PRO membership (annual, on every renewal). A 12-month bundle of FITPASS (gym and fitness-studio network access), FITCOACH (AI-led coaching) and FITFEAST (nutritionist access). Usage is capped at 12 sessions per month, no more than 3 per week and 1 per day, and every session needs a prior reservation on the FITPASS app. The voucher must be activated within 90 calendar days of dispatch. If you already hold a FITPASS membership it is replaced, not extended.
Netmeds First membership (annual, on every renewal). Twelve months of 6 free online doctor consultations with 7-day follow-up (cardiology, urology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, neurology, pulmonology and oncology are excluded), an extra 2% NMS cash capped at ₹100 per prepaid medicine order, an extra 10% off pathology lab tests capped at ₹100, free delivery above ₹99 and priority order processing.
Both memberships require payment of the joining or renewal fee and at least one retail transaction on the card within 12 months of joining.
Airport lounges. 4 complimentary domestic lounge visits a year, hard-capped at 1 per quarter, with no minimum spend condition. A complimentary Priority Pass membership is issued to the primary cardholder on request — but read this carefully: the card's own lounge T&C states there are no complimentary Priority Pass visits. Every Priority Pass visit, domestic or international, and every guest, is charged at USD 27 + taxes, billed to your statement 60 to 120 days later. Several comparison sites still advertise 8 visits a year and a "$99 Priority Pass" as a headline benefit; the official document tells a different story.
Insurance cover. Fraud liability of ₹1,00,000, loss of checked-in baggage up to ₹72,000 (USD 1,000), delay of checked-in baggage ₹7,500, loss of travel documents ₹12,500 and flight delay ₹7,500. Note that the ₹50 lakh complimentary air accident cover this card once carried was withdrawn with effect from 15 July 2025.
Fuel surcharge waiver. 1% waiver on transactions between ₹500 and ₹4,000 at any petrol pump in India, capped at ₹250 per statement cycle per card account.
Everyday conveniences. Contactless tap-and-pay up to ₹5,000 per transaction without a PIN, Flexipay EMI conversion on transactions of ₹2,500 or more (booked within 10 days), balance transfer on EMI, Easy Bill Pay for utilities, and free add-on cards.
Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn Reward Points
- Fuel — purchases at petrol pumps and service stations under MCC 5172, 5541, 5542 and 5983 are excluded outright.
- Rent — rent transactions (MCC 6513) no longer earn points on SBI cards, and carry a ₹199 + taxes processing fee.
- Government payments — transactions under MCC 9399 and 9311, including tax and government-portal payments, were phased out of the rewards program.
- Wallet loads — e-wallet loading and recharge under MCC 6540 and 6541.
- Cash advances, ATM withdrawals, Encash, Easymoney and Dial-a-Draft.
- Balance transfers, balance transfer on EMI and Flexipay EMI. Points already accrued on a transaction are forfeited when it is converted to Flexipay EMI, and are not restored on foreclosure.
- Fees and finance charges — late payment fees, cheque dishonour charges, service fees and transaction charges.
- Points + Pay redemptions and Card Protection Plan charges.
- UPI spends — this is a Visa card, not a RuPay card, so it cannot be linked to a UPI handle at all.
A note on how categories are decided: eligibility follows the Merchant Category Code assigned by Visa, and SBI's own terms say identification is done on a best-effort basis. A restaurant inside a hotel, a pharmacy counter inside a supermarket, or a ticketing aggregator billing under MCC 7922 rather than 7832 may not earn the accelerated rate.

Is the SBI Card PULSE Worth It?
The honest answer depends almost entirely on whether you will use the FITPASS PRO membership.
In year one the card is easy to justify: a ₹7,999 smartwatch against a ₹1,499 fee is a large upfront surplus, and the two memberships sit on top of that. From year two onward the arithmetic tightens. The base rate of 0.5% is genuinely weak — well below what a plain cashback card returns on ordinary spending — and the accelerated 2.5% applies to a narrow set of categories that, for most households, do not add up to much. Chemist, dining, movie and sports spending of ₹18,000 a month is a fairly committed profile.
The card suits a cardholder who visits a gym regularly, buys medicines and supplements often, eats out several times a month, and spends at least ₹2 lakh a year to keep the fee at zero. For that person the FITPASS PRO membership alone can outweigh the fee, and the accelerated categories match their actual life.
It does not suit someone looking for a general-purpose rewards card. The 0.5% base rate, the ₹99 redemption fee, the 3.5% forex markup, the exclusion of fuel, rent, government and wallet spends, and the fact that lounge access is limited to one visit a quarter all point the same way. If your fitness routine does not run through a FITPASS gym, the recurring value collapses to the ₹1,500 milestone voucher and a thin reward rate, and there are better ₹1,499 cards in the market.
One more caution: verify the lounge and Priority Pass terms with SBI Card before you apply. The official document supplied with the card and the marketing copy circulating on comparison sites do not agree, and the official document is less generous.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is the joining and annual fee of the SBI Card PULSE? Both the joining fee and the annual renewal fee are ₹1,499 plus applicable taxes. The renewal fee is reversed if your spends in the preceding year were ₹2,00,000 or more.
How much is one SBI Reward Point worth? Four Reward Points equal ₹1 when redeemed against your card outstanding, so each point is worth ₹0.25. Points can also be redeemed from the Shop & Smile rewards catalogue, where value varies by item.
Which categories earn 10 Reward Points per ₹100? Chemist and pharmacy, dining, movies, and sports — covering MCCs 5912 and 8099 for pharmacy, 5812, 5813 and 5814 for dining, 7832 for cinemas, and 5655, 5941, 7941 and 7997 for sports retail and sports or golf clubs.
Is there a cap on the accelerated Reward Points? Yes. Accelerated points are capped at 7,500 Reward Points per calendar month across all four categories combined, which is roughly ₹75,000 of accelerated spend. Beyond the cap those categories earn the standard 2 Reward Points per ₹100.
Do I earn Reward Points on fuel, rent or government payments? No. Fuel purchases at petrol pumps are explicitly excluded from the rewards program, and SBI Card has discontinued point accrual on rent and government transactions. The 1% fuel surcharge waiver still applies separately.
What do I get as a welcome gift? An e-voucher for a Noise ColorFit Pulse 4 Pro smartwatch worth ₹7,999, issued on payment of the joining fee. The voucher is valid for 6 months and can only be redeemed for that specific watch.
How many lounge visits do I get? Four complimentary domestic airport lounge visits per year, limited to one per quarter, with no spend condition. The complimentary Priority Pass membership carries no free visits — each visit costs USD 27 plus taxes.
How do I activate the FITPASS PRO and Netmeds First memberships? Pay the joining or renewal fee and complete at least one retail transaction on the card within 12 months of joining. Vouchers are sent by SMS or email within 21 working days. The FITPASS PRO voucher must then be activated within 90 calendar days of dispatch.
How many gym sessions does FITPASS PRO allow? Up to 12 sessions per month, with no more than 3 sessions in a week and 1 session per day. Every session requires a prior reservation on the FITPASS app and is subject to availability.
What do I need to spend to get the ₹1,500 voucher? ₹4 lakh in annual retail spends within your eligible year, which runs from your fee payment anniversary. The voucher is a Netmeds e-gift voucher and can be used for medicines only.
Does the SBI Card PULSE still offer air accident insurance? No. The complimentary ₹50 lakh air accident cover was discontinued with effect from 15 July 2025. The card retains fraud liability cover of ₹1 lakh plus baggage, travel document and flight delay covers.
Can I use this card for UPI payments? No. SBI Card PULSE is issued on the Visa network, and only RuPay credit cards can be linked to a UPI handle in India.
When do my Reward Points expire? Reward Points are valid for 24 months from the date of accrual under the Shop & Smile Rewards Program. A redemption fee of ₹99 plus taxes applies per redemption request.
