The YES BANK RESERV Credit Card is the bank's flagship rewards card, sold until early 2024 as the YES First Exclusive. It is built around one idea: pay heavily for online shopping. At ₹2,499 plus GST it sits in the mid-premium bracket alongside cards like the Axis Atlas and HDFC Regalia Gold, but its reward structure is far more lopsided — online spends earn double what offline spends do, and a long list of everyday categories earns nothing at all. This review works through what the card actually pays after its caps, exclusions and the June 2026 fee revisions.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: 21 to 60 years
  • Employment: Salaried or self-employed
  • Income: Minimum net salary of ₹2,00,000 per month, or income tax return of ₹18,00,000 and above
  • Existing relationship: If you already hold any YES BANK credit card, you are not eligible for the RESERV. Existing Mastercard or Visa holders can additionally apply for a virtual RuPay companion card.

That income bar is high for a ₹2,499 card — it is roughly what banks ask for cards costing twice as much.

Welcome Benefit

There is no welcome benefit on the RESERV as it is sold today. YES BANK's product page lists none, and the card's fee schedule carries no sign-up voucher or bonus points.

Older listings on comparison sites still describe a ₹500 Amazon voucher for spending ₹1,000 within the first 30 days. That offer belongs to the card's earlier YES First Exclusive era and could not be verified against any current YES BANK source. Do not factor it into your first-year maths.

What the card does have in the first year is a joining fee reversal: spend ₹40,000 within 30 days of card set-up and the ₹2,499 joining fee is refunded. Rent and wallet transactions do not count towards that ₹40,000.

Reward Structure: How You Earn

The RESERV runs a three-tier earn rate, all denominated in YES Rewardz points, all accrued in blocks of ₹200.

Type of spendPoints earnedValue at ₹0.25/pointEffective rate
Online shopping (outside select categories)24 points per ₹200₹6 per ₹2003.00%
Offline shopping (outside select categories)12 points per ₹200₹3 per ₹2001.50%
Select categories6 points per ₹200₹1.50 per ₹2000.75%
Rent, wallet, fuel, UPI, government and other excluded categoriesNil—0.00%

The ₹0.25 assumption matters enormously. One YES Rewardz point is worth 25 paise only when redeemed against flights and hotels booked on the YES Rewardz portal. Redeem for gift vouchers or standard cash-equivalent options and the point is worth roughly 10 paise — which turns the headline 3% into about 1.2% and the 1.5% offline rate into about 0.6%. Every "3% card" claim about the RESERV silently assumes you will only ever redeem for travel.

The reward caps

Two ceilings apply, and they are very different in size:

  • Card-wide cap: 36,000 YES Rewardz points per statement cycle across all categories. At the 3% online rate you would need roughly ₹3,00,000 of online spend in one cycle to hit it, so for most cardholders this cap is not binding.
  • Utility cap: 750 YES Rewardz points per statement cycle on utility and service transactions, specified separately in the MITC for RESERV. This one bites early — about ₹25,000 of utility spend exhausts it, after which utility spends earn nothing.

Worked example (illustrative)

YES BANK's terms do not publish a rewards worked example, so the following is our own illustration for a cardholder spending ₹1,00,000 in a statement cycle.

SpendAmountRatePointsValue at ₹0.25
Online shopping (Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra)₹40,00024 per ₹2004,800₹1,200
Offline retail and dining₹25,00012 per ₹2001,500₹375
Grocery and quick commerce₹10,0006 per ₹200300₹75
Utility bills₹8,0006 per ₹200240₹60
Fuel₹7,000Nil0₹0
Rent₹10,000Nil0₹0
**Total****₹1,00,000****6,840****₹1,710**

That is a blended return of about 1.7% on ₹1,00,000 of realistic mixed spending — well short of the 3% headline, because a third of the spend earns either nothing or the select-category rate. Redeem those 6,840 points for vouchers instead of flights and the cycle is worth about ₹684, or 0.68%.

The optional Rewards Subscription Plans

The RESERV is eligible for YES BANK's paid rewards subscription, which is what most enthusiasts actually buy this card for.

PlanFee per yearOnlineOfflineSelect categories
3X Rewards₹3,50048 points per ₹200 (~6%)36 points per ₹200 (~4.5%)18 points per ₹200 (~2.25%)
5X Rewards₹5,00072 points per ₹200 (~9%)120 points per ₹200 (~15%)Not applicable

The 5X plan applies only to travel, dining, fashion and healthcare spends. Bonus points under both plans are capped at 75,000 per calendar month, and categories that earn nothing on the base card — rent, wallet, fuel, UPI, EMI conversions — stay excluded under the plans too. The 3X plan pays for itself at roughly ₹1.2 lakh of annual online spend; the 5X plan needs concentrated spending in its four categories to break even.

Milestone Benefits

The RESERV has no spend milestones. It has one recurring benefit instead: 8,000 bonus YES Rewardz points when the renewal fee is charged, from the second year onwards — worth ₹2,000 at ₹0.25 per point.

Note the trap in that sentence. The points are credited only when the fee is actually levied. Spend ₹3,00,000 in your anniversary year, get the fee waived, and you forfeit the 8,000 points. The two benefits are mutually exclusive, so the real decision each year is whether ₹2,499 + GST (about ₹2,949) buys you ₹2,000 of travel-redeemed points — it does not, quite.

Other Benefits

Domestic lounge access — 3 complimentary visits per quarter for primary and add-on cardholders combined. Access is not automatic: you must spend ₹1,00,000 or more in the previous calendar quarter to unlock the following quarter's visits. Fee payments, reversals, cancelled transactions, rent and wallet spends are excluded from that threshold. Guest visits are always chargeable.

International lounge access — 6 complimentary visits per calendar year for primary and add-on cardholders, with no spend condition attached. You must enable international online transactions on the card first, and a refundable authorisation of US$1 is charged on Visa and Mastercard at the lounge entrance. All guest visits are chargeable. YES BANK no longer issues a physical Priority Pass with the card; access is by card swipe or by a QR code generated on the Priority Pass portal.

Golf — 4 complimentary green fee waivers per year (maximum one round per calendar month) and 1 complimentary golf lesson per year at select courses in India. Booking runs through Mastercard's golf concierge, Visa's TeePass portal or the RuPay Select portal depending on your card network. Visa bookings need 5 clear days' notice.

Fuel surcharge waiver — 1% on transactions between ₹500 and ₹4,000, capped at ₹500 per statement cycle. Not available on fuel bought through UPI, and GST on the surcharge is never waived. Remember that fuel spends earn no reward points on this card.

Movies — a 25% discount on BookMyShow tickets, up to ₹250 per transaction. This is a campaign offer rather than a permanent card feature; confirm it is live before you count on it. There is no buy-one-get-one movie benefit.

EMI and interest-free period — up to 50 days interest-free on purchases, provided the previous statement was cleared in full.

Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn

Effective 15 June 2026, YES BANK stopped awarding reward points on a substantial list of categories:

  • Rent
  • Wallet loads
  • Fuel
  • UPI transactions
  • Government payments
  • Marketing and advertising merchants
  • Insurance premiums
  • Education payments
  • Railways
  • Tolls and ferries
  • Cash withdrawals
  • Any transaction converted to EMI (post-purchase EMI, EMI on call, instant EMI)

Separately, select categories earn the reduced 0.75% rate rather than the online or offline rate. YES BANK does not publish the full select list on the product page, but it is understood to include utilities, grocery and supermarket stores, transportation, taxi services and bus lines. Because that list is unpublished and has been revised before, treat quick-commerce and grocery spends as 0.75% earners until your own statement proves otherwise.

Several of these categories are doubly penalised: they earn nothing and attract a transaction fee. Rent, wallet loads above ₹2,000, utilities above the monthly threshold, fuel, tolls and railway bookings all carry 1% fees under the conditions set out below.

Branch cash deposit₹500 + GST for repayments of ₹1,000 or more
GST18% on all fees and charges

A note on timing: several of these were revised on 15 June 2026, and not favourably. The cash advance minimum rose from ₹500 to ₹650, the branch cash deposit fee from ₹100 to ₹500, re-issuance from ₹100 to ₹199, and — most relevant to a rewards card — the ₹100 reward redemption fee now applies to RESERV, which had been exempt from it. Comparison sites that have not refreshed since May 2026 still show the older figures.

Is the YES BANK RESERV Worth It?

For a specific profile, yes. If most of your discretionary spending is online, you redeem exclusively for flights and hotels on the YES Rewardz portal, and you spend enough each quarter to keep the lounge benefit alive, the RESERV delivers a genuine 3% with the fee effectively free at ₹3 lakh of annual spend. Add the 3X subscription and the online rate roughly doubles, which few Indian cards can match without portal restrictions.

For most people, no. The conditions stack up in an unfriendly way: the ₹1 lakh quarterly spend gate on domestic lounge access, the ₹0.25 point value that only exists for travel redemptions, a select-category list the bank does not publish, no rewards on rent, fuel, UPI, insurance, education or utilities beyond a 750-point trickle, a ₹100 fee every time you redeem, and a forex markup that quietly moved to 2% in June 2026 — which undercuts the card's long-standing pitch as a cheap card to use abroad. The renewal benefit and the fee waiver cancel each other out by design. If your spending is spread across bills, fuel, rent and offline retail, this card will return well under 1% and the ₹2,499 will not come back.

The honest summary: a sharp tool for online-heavy, travel-redeeming, high-spending users, and a poor general-purpose card for everyone else.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the annual fee of the YES BANK RESERV Credit Card? ₹2,499 plus GST, both as a joining fee and as a renewal fee. The joining fee is reversed if you spend ₹40,000 within 30 days of card set-up, and the renewal fee is waived if you spend ₹3,00,000 in a card anniversary year. Rent and wallet transactions do not count towards either threshold.

What is the reward rate on the YES BANK RESERV Credit Card? 24 YES Rewardz points per ₹200 on online shopping, 12 per ₹200 on offline shopping and 6 per ₹200 on select categories — about 3%, 1.5% and 0.75% respectively when points are redeemed for flights and hotels at ₹0.25 per point.

What is one YES Rewardz point worth? Up to ₹0.25 when redeemed against flights and hotels on the YES Rewardz portal. Gift vouchers and standard redemptions run closer to ₹0.10 per point, and air miles convert at roughly 10 points to 1 mile.

Do I get lounge access automatically with the RESERV card? Not for domestic lounges. You must spend ₹1,00,000 or more in the previous calendar quarter to unlock 3 complimentary domestic visits in the following quarter. The 6 international visits per calendar year have no spend condition.

Does the RESERV card give reward points on rent, fuel and UPI? No. Since 15 June 2026 the card earns nothing on rent, wallet loads, fuel, UPI, government and marketing transactions, insurance, education, railways, tolls and ferries, cash withdrawals, or any transaction converted to EMI. Several of these also attract a 1% transaction fee.

What is the forex markup on the YES BANK RESERV Credit Card? 2.00% effective 15 June 2026, revised upward from 1.75%. A separate 1% dynamic currency conversion charge applies if an international transaction is billed to you in rupees.

Is there a welcome benefit on the RESERV card? Not currently. Older listings mention a ₹500 Amazon voucher on ₹1,000 of spend within 30 days, but that dates from the card's YES First Exclusive era and is not advertised on the current product page.

What is the renewal benefit and can I get it along with the fee waiver? You receive 8,000 bonus YES Rewardz points, worth about ₹2,000, when the renewal fee is charged from the second year onwards. You cannot have both — if you cross ₹3,00,000 in spends the fee is waived and no bonus points are credited.

Is there a cap on reward points? Yes, two. A card-wide ceiling of 36,000 points per statement cycle, and a much tighter 750-point ceiling per statement cycle specifically on utility and service transactions.

Are the 3X and 5X subscription plans worth buying? The 3X plan at ₹3,500 a year lifts online earning to roughly 6% and offline to 4.5% across all eligible categories, and breaks even at around ₹1.2 lakh of annual online spend. The 5X plan at ₹5,000 only covers travel, dining, fashion and healthcare, so it needs concentrated spending in those four categories to justify itself. Bonus points under both are capped at 75,000 per calendar month.

Does the card offer insurance cover? YES BANK links a purchase protection FAQ from the RESERV product page but does not disclose any sum insured, and no insurance covers are listed in the current MITC. The air accident, medical emergency and credit shield covers quoted on some comparison sites belong to the older YES First Exclusive proposition and should be confirmed with the bank before you rely on them.

How long do YES Rewardz points last? 36 months from the date they are earned. All unredeemed points lapse immediately if you close the card.

This review is based on the YES BANK RESERV Credit Card product page, the YES BANK Credit Card Most Important Terms and Conditions (document reference CMITC_V18_28072026), and the YES BANK domestic lounge, international lounge and golf programme documents, all verified on 2 August 2026, supplemented by publicly available card reviews for the reward point valuation, select-category list and renewal benefit. Fees, reward rates, category exclusions and benefit terms are set by YES BANK and are subject to change without notice — several charges on this card were revised on 15 June 2026.
