Axis Bank MAGNUS Credit Card Review 2026: 12 EDGE Points per ₹200, 2% Forex & FAQs
Axis Magnus charges ₹12,500 and earns 12 EDGE Reward Points per ₹200 at ₹0.20 a point — 1.2% — with a 2% forex markup and 60 points per ₹200 on Travel EDGE. What the devaluations removed, and FAQs.
Magnus was, for a while, the most talked-about premium card in India. It is now a 1.2% card with a ₹12,500 fee whose headline benefits have been withdrawn one at a time over three years while the fee has not moved.
What remains is genuinely good in one place — a 2% forex markup against the 3.5% most of the range charges — and a strong Travel EDGE rate. Whether that justifies ₹12,500 is the whole question.

Reward Structure: How You Earn
Magnus earns EDGE Reward Points, worth ₹0.20 on the Gift EDGE portal — a rate Axis states directly in the Magnus FAQ itself.
12 EDGE Reward Points per ₹200 on general spends — 1.2%. On the Travel EDGE portal, 60 points per ₹200 (6%) on the first ₹2,00,000 a month, dropping to 35 per ₹200 (3.5%) above that.
Axis changed this card on 28 August 2026. Gift-card purchases and toll, bridge and road fees stopped earning rewards and stopped counting toward milestones and the annual fee waiver. Both changes are already in force.
| Spend | Effective rate |
|---|---|
| Travel EDGE portal, first ₹2,00,000 a month (capped at 200,000 points a month) | **6.0%** |
| Travel EDGE portal bookings (capped at 200,000 points a month) | **3.5%** |
| Everything else | 1.2% |
| Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government, gaming | **0%** |
The caps that actually bind
Headline rates mean little until you know where they stop. These are the limits on this card:
| Cap | Limit |
|---|---|
| Travel Edge | 200,000 points per calendar month |
The monthly milestone is gone. Magnus previously paid 25,000 EDGE Reward Points on monthly spends of ₹1,00,000 — ₹5,000 a month, ₹60,000 a year, and the single biggest reason people held the card. Axis's own terms state it has been discontinued. Any comparison still crediting Magnus with that benefit is describing a card that no longer exists.
Priority Pass no longer works at domestic lounges, from 28 August 2026. Domestic entry now means presenting the Axis card itself with a boarding pass. International access is unchanged. Any review describing this card's Priority Pass as covering Indian lounges describes the position before that date.
Other Benefits
International lounge access through Priority Pass continues; domestic access does not.
Transfer to airline and hotel partners at 5 EDGE Reward Points for 2 partner points, revised down from 5:4.
Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn
- Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: fuel; rent (MCC 6513); wallet loads (MCC 6540); government institution transactions (MCC 9222, 9311, 9399, 9402); cash withdrawals; EMI conversions; gift card purchases and toll, bridge and road fees (both excluded w.e.f. 28 August 2026); and fees, charges, GST and reversals. Insurance, utilities, telecom, education and jewellery are excluded on some cards only — the per-card notes say which.
- Point expiry: EDGE Reward Points and EDGE Miles expire 36 months from the date of accrual unless the card's own terms say otherwise. Points are forfeited if the card is closed, and a NEGATIVE point balance at closure is converted to a statement debit the cardholder must pay.
- Redemption fee: ₹199 per redemption.
- Travel Edge cap: ₹2,00,000 of Travel EDGE spend a calendar month at the 60-point rate; above it the 35-point rate applies. A SPEND threshold, not a rewards cap, and the rate steps DOWN rather than falling to base.
What the Published Data Does Not Tell You
Magnus has been devalued repeatedly and the fee has not moved. The transfer ratio was cut, the monthly milestone withdrawn, domestic Priority Pass access ended, and gift-card and toll spends stopped earning — all while the ₹12,500 stayed put. Treat any review written before September 2026 as describing a materially better card than the one on sale.

Is the Axis Bank MAGNUS Credit Card Worth It?
The 2% forex markup is the strongest remaining argument. On ₹5 lakh of foreign spending a year it saves ₹7,500 against a 3.5% card — most of the fee, before any points.
The Travel EDGE rate is real but channel-locked. 6% on the first ₹2 lakh a month is excellent; it applies only to bookings made through Axis's own portal, at whatever prices and availability that portal offers on the day.
The 1.2% general rate does not support a ₹12,500 fee. ₹1 lakh a month returns ₹1,200 — ₹14,400 a year against ₹12,500, before you count that the ₹25 lakh waiver threshold excludes rent, wallet, utilities, government, EMI, cash and now gift cards.
Judge it on foreign spending and Travel EDGE alone. If you do neither heavily, the fee is not recoverable, and the pattern of the last three years suggests more will be withdrawn.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is the Magnus earn rate? 12 EDGE Reward Points per ₹200 on general spends — 1.2% at ₹0.20 a point. Travel EDGE bookings earn 60 points per ₹200 on the first ₹2 lakh a month and 35 per ₹200 above that.
Does Magnus still pay 25,000 points on ₹1 lakh monthly spend? No. That milestone has been discontinued. It was the card's best-known benefit and its withdrawal is the main reason Magnus no longer reads the way older reviews describe it.
What is the forex markup? 2% — well below the 3.5% most Axis cards charge, and the strongest remaining reason to hold the card. The DCC markup also rose from 1.5% to 2% on 28 August 2026.
What is an EDGE Reward Point worth? ₹0.20 on the Gift EDGE portal. Note that Axis's MITC quotes the same ₹0.20 in its negative-balance clawback clause — that is a different thing and the agreement is coincidental.
Can I still use Priority Pass at Indian lounges? No, not since 28 August 2026. Domestic lounge entry now requires presenting the Axis card itself with a boarding pass. International Priority Pass access is unchanged.
What is the fee waiver threshold? ₹25 lakh of eligible annual spend, which excludes rent, wallet loads, utilities, government transactions, EMI conversions, cash withdrawals and — since 28 August 2026 — gift cards.
