The RBL Lumière is the most expensive credit card in this entire collection at ₹50,000 a year, and one of the least documented.

Three things are established: the fee, a 0% foreign currency markup, and a ₹1 redemption value per Reward Point. Beyond that, RBL's page runs to about three thousand characters and states no earn rate at all.

Reward Structure: How You Earn

RBL publishes no earn rate for this card. Any structured comparison will show 0%, which is a placeholder for unknown — not a statement that the card earns nothing.

What RBL does state is the redemption value: 1 Reward Point = ₹1, described on its page as 'a powerful ₹1 redemption value' against luxury goods. That is four times the ₹0.25 the rest of the range uses.

The 0% forex markup is the clearest benefit and a genuinely rare one. RBL's Schedule of Charges names just four cards exempt from its 'up to 3.5%' standard — Lumière and the three World Safari variants. On ₹20 lakh of foreign spending that saves ₹70,000 against a typical card, which is more than the fee.

The ₹99 redemption fee is also waived, one of eight RBL cards where it is.

RBL stopped paying rewards on a whole block of categories on 13 November 2023 — Fuel & Auto, Utilities, Insurance, Quasi-Cash, Real Estate and Rental, Education, and Wallets. The same list is excluded from milestone spend, so you cannot reach a milestone on utility or insurance spending on any RBL card.

Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn

  • Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: Fuel & Auto, Utilities, Insurance, Quasi-Cash, Real Estate and Rental, Education, and Wallets and Service Providers — RBL's own category list, excluded from earning AND from milestone spend calculation, with effect from 13 November 2023. Railways and Government are excluded on some cards additionally. Base Reward Points are also NOT accrued on EMI conversion of retail transactions, including Split-N-Pay and EMI requests placed at the point of sale.
  • Point expiry: Reward Points expire after the validity period RBL prescribes and are forfeited on card closure. Points transferred to a partner programme are governed by that programme's expiry rules, not RBL's.

Is the RBL Bank Lumière Credit Card Worth It?

At ₹50,000 with an unpublished earn rate, this card cannot be assessed properly — and that is the honest verdict rather than a hedge.

The forex markup alone justifies it for a specific person: someone spending ₹15 lakh or more abroad each year, for whom 0% against 3.5% is worth ₹52,500.

For anyone else the case is unmade. The lounge entitlement recorded in this dataset is inferred from the card's tier, not published; the earn rate is unknown; the accelerated categories are unlisted.

Ask RBL for the earn rate and the lounge allowance in writing before applying. On a ₹50,000 card those are not details.
